Tip & How-To about Cars & Trucks
Hello all. anyone with Volkswagen phaeton that is having overheating problems need to read this:
if your car is overheating and you did all the services to it and still overheating then you must take it to a shop that have special machine to bleed the system .thos cars are very sensetive to air in the system this is what you have to look for:
-check for leaks in the system
-check for cracks in the hoses or specially the extra valve on the coolant expansion bottle they tend to crack and start seeping air in to the system over night while its cooling down .just watch your car overheating problem it will do it only after it sets for a while and cool down then after it overheat it will go back to normal the whole day like nothing is wrong and will do the same thing next day..once you bleed the system from air pockets then your problem is solved. i have a phaeton and it took me 4 month to find out what is wrong with it exactly . mine had crack in the expantion tank neck that was bringing air in the system overnight ..after changing that part it did better for little while then went back to overheat again tell i found the problem . i did not bleed the system correct i had to take it to special place where they had that bleeding machine and its all good now.if you call the dealer and he tells you its normal that they run hot then you know that your dealer don't know shiit.. good luck hope this will help someone..
p.s: dont worry about the oil temp its not really a good way to tell your engine temp . if your Gage going up in the temp then your car is overheating its that simple..
