There are two jam switches located on the latch assymbly. One on top and one at the bottom. They can become dirty and not function properly causing the dome light to stay on until it "times" out. They can be removed and cleaned so they don't stick. Once I found them, it took me about an hour to completely remove the door panel, latch assymbly, and to reinstall everything back.

I have a 1995 F350 crew cab with keyless entry and the dome lights controlled by some sort of module. My dome lights won't go out except for when the module times out after 15 or 30 minutes. I already pulled the door jamb switches one at a time to see if one of them was causing the dome lights to stay on, but it didn't help. I saw this article, so I pulled my driver's side door latch and there are no switches connected to the door latch assembly. So are the dome lights controlled by the door jamb switches? They are the 3-wire variety located up by the hinges. I have a service manual, but it says nothing about the module that controls the dome lights.
My other questions are about what triggers the dome lights to come on and when they go off. Does the keyless entry turn on the dome light when I unlock the doors? Do the dome lights come on when turning off the ignition, or go out when the ignition is turned on? Do the dome lights go off when the doors are locked with the keyless entry, or do they stay on and go out a minute later?
You can spray wd40 into the door catches every year or two instead. I had taken my overhead bulbs out before I heard this idea from my cousin who has an Explorer. As soon as I sprayed the latches I was able to put my bulbs back in. That was five years ago and I've only sprayed them once since that time.
