Tip & How-To about 1995 Buick Park Avenue
I bought this car from my mother, and she constantly had the problem of the A/C just kicking off with a high-pitched buzz and suddenly it would blow hot air! She replaced the entire AC system (lucky me!) and gave up on it. I fixed it with a $5 junkyard part... The HVAC control module (the interior button control).
You must disassemble the dash by first pulling off the lower covers (mine were wood-toned) then unscrewing all the pieces holding the dash cover in place. The one in the glove box was the biggest pain! Then 2 little screws hold in the HVAC controller. Pop it out, plug in the new one, screw it in. I also put in a new stereo while I was digging around, using a cheap stereo install kit. It also left room for a little shelf (included in the kit) to put the remote into. I put a little piece of rubbery grip stuff in it so the remote won't slide out.
I am not a car person, and it was a fairly easy (but long) repair. It took me about 2 hours to get the dash pulled apart, then another 2 to get it all screwed back in.
