Tip & How-To about 2005 Toyota Matrix

Verso semi auto box .

After repair/replacing of bearings/seals when fitting gearbox housing to bell housing put a wedge between casing and bell housing to keep both ends apart this will stop gap closing when you lie it on its side and stop the magnet falling out you will also be able to tighten two 12mm bolts for gear slider, through this gap it is very easy to put sealant in place once you know the box is lined up,and doing it this way you dont disturb sealing surfaces until you are are actually ready to push both ends together .

I have old Cushman trickster powered by 12 horse kohler, has 3 speed transmission, having trouble pulling trans from little bell housing, is something internally holding shaft? besides rust? lol

Assuming a traditional design it is probably rust and if fitted with a clutch pilot bearing, the gearbox shaft could be seized into it meaning considerable force might be needed to remove it. I have known them to be so seized into the pilot bearing that removing the gearbox actually pulls the bearing from the housing.

Why would I have oil in where my flywheel is and

Give more information. What car, what year model? If there is oil where the flywheel is, chances are you have a leaking rear main bearing oil seal or leaking gear box primary shaft oil seal. Coil packs? They should be there to make the car go.

2003 passat 130bhp tdi auto. oil leaking fromtork converter the car recently had a gearbox oil and filter change and drove perfectley but when i put it into reverse and drove it for about 50 meters all the oil came out through the bell houseing what do i need to do to fix it any help will be greatfully accepted

Hi Craig,
I'd suggest that the oil seal which seals between the torque converter neck and the gear box casing is damaged and will need replacing. The job seems simple but in fact can result in breaking the gearbox oil pump, when the torque converter is refitted to the gear box. the neck has to align with the gears inside the gear box and the oil pump, if the torque converter is not fitted correctly the damage I've mentioned will take place when refitting box.
If you would like to proceed let me know.

how to take golf gearbox apart

There is a cover on the back of the gearbox, Remove the cover and wedge 5th gear and reverse off the shaft. One that is done you must remove all the bolts around the bell housing. It might be that the 2 casings stick to each other because of the sealer used to seal the gearbox. The casings should slide off once the sealer has lifted.
