1998 Lincoln Town Car - Page 3 Questions & Answers
The car has a coolant leak from back of engine on passenger side.
Sounds like the drain line from the heater/air conditioning box. There is a drip pan inside the heater box to catch condensation from the A/C coil. Normally, only water comes out of there, but, if the heater core springs a leak (and they do), then the tray catches the coolant and diverts it outside the car. You'll need to confirm the heater core is leaking and if so, replace the heater core. Not a fun job on many cars.....
Keeps blowing starter fuse has new starter does it every once in a while
Check and follow the wires check for cuts, tears loose wires. Usually the starter wires lead to the battery check around that area. Check the connections on the starter maybe it's grounding where it's not suppose to.
Check the battery too I had a battety that moved and arc into the hood it would engage the the starter while the car was running all kinds of strange things.
2001 Towncar Shudders while accelerating
Yes, it's a torque convertor shudder. Flush your transmission fluid and add an additive to help shudder (shudder fix, etc). That fixes most of the vehicle, the others will need a convertor. Try to keep transmission serviced around every 30k will help this concern.
Fixed fuel pump in lincoln town car 1998 still wont crank
lots of things to check, you say wont crank ,do you mean wont start,or doesnt turn over,is the anti theft light blinking this would indicate an alarm issue, have you scanned it any codes do you have spark,do you have fuel pressure how about injector pulse let me know about these things and will go from there
What are the warning signs, if any, when the
If a slow air leak has developed in either an air bag or in any of the tubing (there's a lot) or in the valve at the air pump, you will hear the air pump running more often.Eventually, the pump will be unable to raise the car to the required height (working against the leak) within the time-out period (about a minute) and then it will give up, stop pumping, and a light on the dash will come on indicating an air suspension problem (or maybe on your relatively newer car, the digital dash may show an error message - I don't know).I've had an '88, a '91, and a '94. Both the '91 and the '94 had air suspension faults at various times, and none of them were air bag leaks. I've had the valve at the pump stick and/or/leak on both cars, and the tubing spring a leak on one as well. Apparently the air bags are pretty well made and don't fail as often as the other components (in my experience).
Car is giving a code which the mechanic cannot interpret
P1151 is a lack of O2 sensor switching bank 2, drivers side front.
This code sets when the HO2S monitor or program runs and the sensor indicates a lean condition at the end of the test.
Now there are several possiblities that may cause this like an air leak behind the MAF sensor where air that is not being measured by the MAF is getting into the engine or maybe a vacuum leak,or it could be a restriction in fuel(engine not getting enough fuel).
However if this is the only code you are getting I would strongly suspect it is just a bad or lazy O2 sensor itself. Usually if one of the mentioned air or fuel problems you usually get a code for the other bank as well.
If your vehicle has alot of miles on it I would suggest going ahead and replace both front O2 sensors. This will probably help the performance and fuel economy.
Which fuse will disable the air conditioner and heating operation in a 98 Lincoln Town Car
I can give you a few ideas about this. 1. A chronic problem is the blower motor resistor which will shut down the blower in all modes. 2. The fuse diagram is available, even video youtube articles by searching the words "air conditioning fuse or heater fuse" and the year, make, and model car. 3. The auto climate control has a diagnostic sequence which can tell you if an a/c or heat part is bad. You can find the activation codes online, but you need the translation to tell what the results are showing from the diagnostics.
