try the inertia switch has not tripped first the there is a fuel pump timer relay that is favorite good luck

Best would be to check the oil pump filter in the sump of the engine. these also clog up and drops the oil pressure resulting in a warning light

it sounds like you want a "power probe" . It's the best way to test continuity. A little pricey, though.

timing, vacuum leak, or compression in engine gone!

I believe your clutch is hydraulic on your Prelude, at least my 91 Prelude is, which means you have a master cylinder and a slave cylinder. Are you sure it's cable operated?

pedal pressure? the throttle sticks< OPEN? ive never ever seen a post ever for pedal pressure, what does that mean? im clueless here, and sounds very scary. to any mech. after all, throttle valves failures, can be man killers. so.....??? when failed does the engine crank over full speed with the starter? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr fail to start. that normal sound of a good starter, yes? is this an intermittent problem only? NO start, ? (cranks robustly) no, lets start at step one. 1: check all fuses. in both fuse boxes. 2: are the Headlamps working at full brightness. 3: does all the normal dash cluster lamps glow , key on. Charge, Brake , Check engine lamp> all glow, if not, stop. 4: spark got spark at all cylinders, (a test) my guess is engine is flooding, (smells) and is due to lost spark. ever do the 60k mile tuneup this decade? this very old car has relic, warnings, back then. non standard. the PGM-FI is early name for CEL, check engine on this engine you must find the ECU (PGM-FI box) and see the LEDs on the side. they can be made to blink secret codes. errrors these errors will be key to diagnosis, i bet. here is the clue http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-c9084_ds477362 the cars FSM book covers how to diagnose no starts or no cranks.

old car. 5th gear? is this M/T? 1987 ?A/T? is 4speedwhat does stopped working mean .1: shifter fails to select 5 gear H pattern slot. 2: grinds?3: cant force it to 5th with clutch depressed.? is free play at spec?4: raise front wheels off ground, can you get in to 5th now? keyout and running?5: can you get into 5th parked engine off, and select 5th and then start car in 5th with clutch depresses first step. then slowly very slowly attempt to move car starting in 5th, but dont finish, just feel the gear, feel that its there and not neutral.not working ,says nothing at all.

you can take a look under the hood at the fuse and relay box. the fan relays are probably just old and worn out and need replacing. try this and also try and follow the wire back to the relay box to make sure its connected. If this doesn't work, you can always run a power wire straight to the fan so when you turn the key it comes on and stays on. It should just be a bad relay. good luck

for an 87 I can imagine that you are probably running it at between 175K-350K miles so you should be getting

Some how you have a short where the two systems run off same circut which this would be AC fan. The cooling fan is wired up throught a thermo switch Wich comes on when it reaches a certion heat degree.Myself i like to elemanate proplems so i wire up cooling fans direct.When key is on you here cooling fan.Therno switches will burn car motors out when they go tt80500

If it sit for a long time the gas would not be any good no octane You can keep the critters out of the intake which i use lathing material cheep at hardware or scrap's around job sites free

If battery is ok check battery terminals for whitish coloured powder on them. If so pour boiling water over it to dissolve the powder which is dry acid. Then check to see if the connections to the battery are tight and not corroded.You my have to clean the battery terminals and connections to get a good contact.Hope this helps.Regards Micky

you might need a new fuel pump. with a full tank of gass it is easy to pump the gass but if the pump is bad it will struggle with 3/4 tank of gass

tuning the Delay circuit.

Just for example i have seen on the net a 1987 prelude with a 2.2L Vtec nicly done but the front wheels looked towed out.So you have to think about weights engine are si-269 lbs.dx 284 lbs.What is a 2.2L Vtec?You better have a fat wallet you have all the electronics brain box and exe.it whould be fun! Hi, the wire to the computer is inconsequential to the operation of the charging system. Have you replaced the regulator?

sounds like the problem could be in the fuel pump first start out buy removing the back seet cushion and turn the key to the on position there is a fuel pump assess door under the back seat and with the key on you will be able to hear if the pump is staying on with the key on get back to me after you have preformed this step and well go from there

sounds like a classic Vapor lock. you need to adjust the air fuel ratio and chock.
carb. / injectors

Sounds like you need to replace the valve cover gasket or try tightening it down a little.
