What grade oil for 2000 Cadillac Seville 130000

Cadillac recommends using a 5w-30 oil. My 2000 STS has 125k and I use Castrol full synthetic 5w-30 oil with no problems. I'm also from the old school regarding oil and filter changes. For me it's still every 3000 miles.

2000 cadilac seville occasionally doesnt respond when ignition key is inserted, no memory position adjustments, no starter when key turned. is it key or ignition switch. everything usually works fine

Is the security light lit on the instrument when it doesn't start ? The ignition switch on your vehicle doesn't work like you would probably think it does . The ignition switch is input signal to the body control system . Body Control System Description The body control system consists of three modules and their associated electrical controls. These modules are as follows: • The dash integration module (DIM), located on the right hand side of the instrument panel, near the blower motor. • The instrument panel integration module (IPM), located in the center of the instrument panel, above the radio. • The rear integration module (RIM), located on the right hand rear of the passenger compartment, behind the rear seat. Each module integrates input and output controls for two or more functional areas. The inputs and outputs are wired to the closest module to minimize the lenth and amount of the wiring used. All three modules communicate on the Class 2 serial data line, allowing data to be shared among them, as well as with other Class 2 modules on the vehicle as needed. Each of the three body control modules integrate a number of functional systems under the control of a single module. Each of the modules are connected to the Class 2 serial data line. Dash Integration Module (DIM) The dash intergration module (DIM) functions include the following: • Power moding control (ignition switch states) over Class 2 serial data line • Control of exterior lamps • Interior lamps and incandescent dimming • Steering wheel controls • Horn relay control for theft activation • Low side temperature for HVAC compressor • Hood ajar switch input (export) • Storage of the clock settings and, sending a message on the class 2 serial data line in response to requests from other modules. Instrument Panel Integration Module (IPM) The instrument panel integration module (IPM) functions include the following: • Front HVAC air delivery and temperature controls • Ambient light sensor input and twilight delay input for headlights control • Foglight switch inputs • I/P dimmer switch input • Traction control switch input • Interior lamps switch input • Key in ignition switch input from the ignition switch • Fuel door and rear compartment lid release switch input • Ignition switch headlight control Rear Integration Module (RIM) The rear integration module (RIM) functions include the following: • Fuel level sensor input • Heated seat controls • HVAC blower control • Rear defogger control • Park brake relay controls • Various controls for the interior lamps • Reverse control for the backup lamps and automatic day/night mirror • Rear foglights control • Fuel door and rear compartment lid release controls • Retained accessory power (RAP) control for the sunroof control module • Ajar switch and tamper switch inputs from the rear compartment lid • Content theft alarm At the dealer we would hook up a scan tool and look at the ignition switch inputs to the DIM to see if has correct inputs . Also we would check DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes . DTC B1805 Ignition Switch Problem Normal vehicle Class 2 communication does not begin until the system power mode has been identified. The dash integration module (DIM) monitors four discrete wires from the ignition switch contacts in order to determine the present power mode (ignition switch position). The DIM communicates the system power mode to all Class 2 modules on the Class 2 serial data line. http://www.public.asu.edu/~pheanis/documents/VBI_CLASS2.pd

2000 caddy Seville ...after starting and engine warm turn on the heater and it blows cold air. Fan works / waiting for hot air and then all the sudden it kicks in. Engine at normal temp

Low coolant, if there is an air pocket in the engine it will make it to the heater core. Once there , the air coming out is cold/cool. Once the coolant fills the heater core, it gets hot. If the coolant is fine hot or cold, then have the HVAC system scanned.

Had oil change, so why does 'change oil' message still show?

On most models, you have to reset the "change oil" light after completing...Your owners manual might tell you how...if not...try turning your key to "on"...(not start) then depress the gas pedal 3 times...the light will flicker and go off if completed correctly. Hope this helps.

2002 Ford Explorer ran out of gas put gas in and won't restart. replaced fuel pump and fuel filter still won't start. Cranks but won't start

Most Fords have a fuel reset button. When you ran out of gas you tripped the circuit. Most of the time the button will be on the passenger side by the kick panel. The exact location should be in your owners manual or your local library or auto parts store will have a copy of one for your specific vehicle.

How to reset computer for traction/light is on

Hi Christine , what book is that ? I have Cadillac factory service Information an I have work at a Cadillac dealship ! There is a problem somewhere or the light would not be on . Traction control is part of the ABS system . If your vehicle came to me at the dealer, one of the first thing's I would do is hook up the tech 2 scan tool an see if it could communicate with all the modules - computers on the vehicle ! Install a scan tool. Does the scan tool power up? -- Go to Step 2 Go to Scan Tool Does Not Power Up in Data Link Communications 2
  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to establish communications with the following control modules.
?€¢ Continuously variable road sensing suspension (CVRSS) module

?€¢ Electronic brake control module (EBCM)

?€¢ Powertrain control module (PCM)

?€¢ Instrument cluster (IPC)

?€¢ Instrument panel integration module (IPM)

If it communicated with all the modules , then I would check for DTC's - diagnostic trouble codes ! If there was a code I would go to the diagnostics for that code .If there were no codes I would go to the symptom:s list an in your case it is TRACTION CONTROL Indicator Always On Circuit Description The instrument cluster controls the operation of the TRACTION CONTROL indicator. The EBCM reports the desired status of the TRACTION CONTROL indicator via class 2 serial data messages. When you first turn the key on , without starting the vehicle Does the TRACTION CONTROL indicator illuminate during the bulb check and then turn OFF after a few seconds ? IF there are no DTC"S stored this could be a wiring problem or the instrument cluster or Electronic Brake Control Module ! Or you can try a reset by disconnecting the battery cables from the battery ! negative first then positive an touch the cable ends together for a minute , then hook them back-up ! positive first then negative ! Heard of this from others on the internet ! But if there is a real problem the light will come back on !

Where are the ignition coil packs and how do I

The coil packs sit on top the the engine. As you open the hood toward the rear of the engine you will see four cokl packs sitting on the engine. There are 3 10mm bolts holding the bracket that holds all the coil packs. You can remove them all at once (easier) or try to remove coil packs one at a time.

WHERE IS THE WIPER RELAY SWITCH ON A 2000 STS CADILLAC SEVILLE

Are you thinking the relay that controls the wiper motor ? The owners manual should have a section for fuses and relays. The wiper motor is controlled by a relay because of its higher current draw. It should be located in one of the fuse panel/blocks.

Security system reset

The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

Ignition switch

The switch can be tested with a multi-meter to see if it is the problem. The switch will have a hot at all times wire going into it. If the switch has power out on the start wire with key held in crank, or if there is continuity between the power in wire terminal and the start wire terminal (on the switch side of harness connector) when the key is held in crank, then the switch is good. Check the neutral safety switch, then the starter relay, then the starter solenoid for a fault. You may need to see a wiring diagram to find the color of the start wire coming out of the switch. A single wire from switch to the neutral safety switch and on to the starter solenoid.

My Cadillac will not move out of park

Does the shift lever move at all? Are you stepping on the brake pedal when you try to shift out of Park? Do your brake lights illuminate when you step on the brake pedal? There is a safety feature that will not allow the shifter to move without applying pressure to the brake pedal. It is a solenoid wired to the brake pedal switch through the brake relay, which is protected by a fuse in your fuse panel.
