Hi, Back in the 90's we experience many differant car lines with this problem, particularly on the AM band. The culprit could be corrosion at antenna connection on the radio. Once this is cleaned, the problem is solved.The connections at the rear are obvious. On the Allante, there is a preamp/tuner box that is accessed by removing the glovebox. It's pretty easy to get to. On that module, there is an antenna connection. If still this doesn't solve the problem then possibly it could be the receiver try replacing it with a new one and this would solve your problem.Hope my solution helped you please rate me if it to somewhat extent. I removed the Digiital Cluster and found out the there is a High Voltage design that powers a bulb appox 4" x .6" that provides the back illumination, I'm attempting to find out what type bulb it is and to see if can be subsituted for and LED design. I'm in the LED business, and trying to get the Lumms and the current figured out.

On most models you would need to jumper the low pressure switch while you are recharging the system. There should be a low pressure switch on the low side line and a high pressure switch on the high side or on the compressor.
