1994 Ford Aerostar Extended - Page 8 Questions & Answers
I have a 94 ford aerostar the starter hung up and
Probably melted a fusible link for the ignition circuit or fried a relay. Check all your fuses, especially the high amp ones. Do you have power to the starter when the key is in the "start" position? If not, check the fuses and cables. You sure the battery is not dead? Do the lights come one?

Airbag light came on and don't know what to do
The sensor on the airbag has told the diagnostics that it has deployed or is faulty
You need a man with a black box to look at the codes and either reset them or tell you which sensor has gone faulty so that it can be replaced
It is not a DIY job

Distrributor wires on wrong
The normal firing order is 1342 on a 4 cylinder engine
You need to remove a spark plug on the No1 cylinder and check for Top Dead Centre on the Compression Stroke (Put your thumb over the plug hole and you will feel the pressure) .
At that point the rotor arm will be lined up with the right lead for No1 cylinder
The rotor arm turns clockwise so No 2 lead is next and so on

Shifting column is not working properly, tranny is ok
Take the cable or linkage off the tranny. Push the tranny arm into park. If it is a linkage then adjust your linkage to match to tranny arm. If it is a cable with it disconnected see if it moves when you move the gear shift, The cable should move freely. You can pull on the end of the cable to make sure it is not broken. Make sure that your tranny arm moves in all gears. Please chalk the wheels so you don't get hurt.

94 Aerostar using transmission fluid
they have several probable leaks. if you are not seeing any leaks on the ground then it is probubly the vacuum modulator on the passenger side of the transmission. the rubber diaphram inside of the mod ruptures and engine vacuum sucks transmission fluid from the transmission and into the engine. it does not require transmission replacement to repair, however it does tend to swell the vacuum lines and cause leaks in that respect. if the fluid is leaking onto the ground you should have it checked out. either way the sooner the repair is made the more likely the problem will stay minor.

Aerostarvan runs badly pipe hanging down
Do you mean a rubber hose? There is a vacuum tree near the rear of the engine where several hoses connect. See if it has come loose from that. If so you have a vacuum leak and that would explain the rough running.
