1999 Ford Super Duty F 550 Questions & Answers
I have a 99 ford
many clutch issues and I take it you are referring to a slipping clutch originate in a faulty clutch master cylinder where the compensating port is blocked
if you have not fitted a new clutch master cylinder try that
another thing is that an f550 is a heavy duty truck so clutch work will require a flywheel machining and a heavy duty clutch pressure plate not an every day clutch kit
Hi its Bill here again, about the Ford '99
The cold start temp sensor is same as ambient air sensor, tells the computer to give the engine a certain amount of fuel to start since there isn't a choke per se. There are two temp sensors, the air temp sensor and the water temperature sending unit usually near the thermostat. The cold start doesn't affect fuel economy unless it's telling the computer the engine is cold. The computer reads several sensors to meter the fuel, map sensor which works off intake manifold pressure (check rubber hose for cracks that connects it), throttle position sensor which is the main fuel control (test it with an ohm meter) and oxygen sensors. The main culprits for bad fuel mileage are usually a partially stopped up catalytic convertor and bad oxygen sensor(s). You can sometimes remove a O2 sensor and spray it with carb cleaner , lightly brush the carbon off with a wire brush to get it working again. This fuel with alcohol is rough on all vehicles. Hope some of this helps.
I have a 1999 ford f800 that just died and wont
Hi
Please check if the connections from the battery are fine. This device on the side of the injection pump is the priming fuel pump or the transfer pump. This can be manualy operated with the hand pump or is operated by the cam shaft of the injection pump when the engine is running.
There should be a bleed screw at the filter housing or you could take the line off of the injection pump coming from the filters. When pumping the hand pump you should get fuel there. If not then either the hand pump is bad or you are sucking air between the hand pump and the tank. One way to check the hand pump is to pull the inlet line off of the hand pump and should be able to feel some suction there when pumping the hand pump.
It might be possible to run a line from the inlet side of the hand pump into a bucket of fuel, if this allows the engine to start and run then the problem is between the hand pump and the tank, if not then it could be either the hand pump or injection pump. Another trick to see if the hand pump is at fault is to plumb a electric fuel pump in line that will supply fuel to the injection pump, if this allows the engine to run then I would lean heavily towards your hand pump.
It is possible that the water seperator filter or base could be allowing air into the system and also a standpipe in the fuel tank if the suction line goes in the top of the fuel tank.
Please do accept the solution and revert for further assistance.
Thanks

Clutch pedal
Probably a spring pulls it back and some kind of a stop keeps it from coming oll the way out or the linkage itself may hold it to it's highest position. When you depress it and then let it off the fingers in the pressure plate push the throw out bearing back which pushed the clutch back to it run position.
Can you replace the push rod on the clutch slave with a longer one, I have a bent clutch fork.
This is a hard question to answer because you are driving with a damaged part and any Certified Mechanic would tell you that the clutch fork may be torn with metal failure. There should be some adjustment, if not, you would first need to determine what length the rod would need to be to work. Thinking "outside the box" there have to be alternate rods for trucks with lift kits. Raising the body off the frame must make changes to clutch components necessary. You may find what you want from businesses dealing with 4x4's and lift kits.
