Test your battery and starter by doing a voltage drop test. Put one test lead of your meter on the neg side of your battery, one on the positive. Check voltage. Make sure that you are actually connecting to the battery itself and not the terminal ends. Should read 12.8-13.2. Keeping the neg in the same location move the pos to the terminal end, engage starter, meter should read above 10 volts. Continue testing down the pos wire to the starter, checking voltage, until you find less than 10 volts. If the voltage is good at starter, have someone turn key to the start position, tap starter with a hammer. if starter engages , replace starter.

TRY ANOTHER FUEL PUMP!!!!!!!!

1988 Ford... | Answered on Jan 31, 2010 | 313 views

CHECK THE FUSES FIRST. YOU MAY HAVE A BAD ONE. IF THEY CHECK OUT OKAY THEN MAKE SURE YOUR KEY SWITCH IS SENDING POWER TO ALL POINTS. IF YOU DON'T HEAR THE FUEL PUMP THEN PERHAPS THE KEY SWITCH HAS FAILED. YOU MAY STILL BE ABLE TO CRANK THE MOTOR EVEN IF IT HAS FAILED. IF YOUR ENGINE HAS A CRANK POSITION SENSOR, THEN SEE IF YOU ARE GETTING POWER IN AND OUT OF THE SENSOR. I HOPE I HAVE HELPED WITH YOUR CAR'S ISSUE. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COMMENT AND TO KEEP ME POSTED. GOOD LUCK

if you look at the upper radiator hose and follow that back to the engine block you will find you thermostat and for the most part it has only 3-screws holding it on a be sure to put the new one back in the same way you took the old one out.

Check your gas filter. When you ran out of gas, you got any rust in your lines and filters. Change the inline filter and use an air compressor and blow the line TOWARDS THE TANK. Take the gas cap off first. There is also a filter in your tank.By blowing the line you may unstop that filter.
