CHEVROLET DTC P1601 - Serial Comm. Problem With Device 1
The Powertrain OBD System Check prompts the technician to complete some basic checks and store the freeze frame and failure records data on the scan tool if applicable. This creates an electronic copy of the data taken when the fault occurred. The information is then stored on the scan tool for later reference.
The UART serial data circuit must be OK so the IPC can send the password XXXXX to the PCM. A DTC P1601 being set would indicate that the UART serial data circuit cannot be used to send information and causing the P1629 also.
An IPC theft deterrent DTC being set would indicate that the Passlock System is faulty and not sending a password XXXXX the PCM. Additional information can be found in Accessories and Optional Equipment / Antitheft and Alarm Systems. See Accessories and Optional Equipment\Antitheft and Alarm Systems
After any Passlock System parts have been replaced, the PCM must relearn the password XXXXX these components.
Replacement PCM's must be reprogrammed. Refer to the latest Techline information for programming procedures.
If no faults have been found at this point and no additional DTC's were set, refer to Diagnostic Aids for additional checks and information.

When you open the fuse box, there should be a fuse map on the cover. Usually there is a listing for "PW / PDL" or more obviously "Windows / Door locks" or even "Cabin electronics" ... it should be that one. If you cannot find anything on your fuse map that looks right, and nothing in the fuse box in the engine compartment looks burned out, you might be in the wrong fuse box. Many cars have a secondary fuse box inside the car. This can be located in one of 3 places (usually) -- 1. Under the driver's side dashboard (rarely, it is located under the driver's seat ... but this is unusual), 2. under the passenger side dashboard, 3. In the trunk. American cars usually put them under the driver's side or passenger's side of the dashboard if they have a secondary fuse box. If you cannot locate the fuse that is out, I recommend getting a Haynes manual from a local auto-parts store. This manual will have the wire diagrams, and fuse box locations for your car, as well as other fixes if it is not the fuse.
My left wheel clicks when
it sounds like your half-shaft is going out. thier are two shafts- one left and one right. from transaxle to wheels and they each have two swivel joints or cv-constant velocity joints in them so that wheels can turn and move up/down as needed. one or more of these swivel joints are going out. Most shops that i know of will want to do both sides as they both have done about the same thing or amount of work and if one side is out, its likely the other one is not far behind.

If no spark or fuel injector pulse my guess would be a bad ignition module.
How do I remove the
Chevy Cavaliers come standard-equipped with fold-down rear seats. Just push the latch and fold the seat back down to access the trunk.
