how to replace ignition switch

I believe you will have to remove the steering wheel. Then you'll have to take off the ignition switch assembly, replace the switch, and put everything back together. IMPORTANT: make sure to defeat the airbag before doing anything to the steering column. You don't want it to deploy while working on the car.

GLOW PLUGS DO NOT WORK on 1998 jetta tdi

I replaced glowplugs. relay, fuses and temperature sensor, but glow plug lite will flash for one second and will work if I disconnect the plug from the temperatue sensor

If the resistance reading is nominal at the sender, check it under the dash at the glow plug relay socket. This signal is present at the connector labeled "T", read resistance from there to ground. If you get a different value than you read at the sensor, there is a problem in the wiring or the connector itself.

I have a 1998 Jetta that has a misfire on cylinder #3 and #2. I am getting codes P0300,P0302, P0303, P0102, and P0748. I have swaped spark plugs from another cylinder and not the one in cylinder #3 is wet. I have also changed the fuel injector and the coil. Could anyone shed some light on the situation? Thanks

Have you tried new Spark Plugs? Also after removing the plugs.
Take a paper towel and roll it up so it is like a long thick pencil. Stick that down the hole the spark plus came out of. Just to clean the moisture out. Also blow some compressed air down the hole.
Make sure all the moisture is out. The put the plugs in.
When you wash you car. Be careful if you wash the engine.
Dont let water get in to the plug holes..

location of crank sensor 1998 jetta 2.0

It's located near the cam gear on the front of the engine however, the crank sensor, to the right of the oil filter near the bell housing is the part notorious for going out on these cars, and causing a p0322 and/or p0341 code, and sometimes others as well To replace the crank sensor you have to: Support the motor with a floor jack. Remove the starter, 2 of the starter bolts connect to the motor mount. Remove the motor mount from the frame, very easy. Remove the oil filter. That will give you just enough room to get an allen wrench in to remove the bolt holding the sensor in.
