1998 Pontiac Firebird - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Can I just put my new chip in my old key for my 98 firebird
No, it has to be programmed by a locksmith to make it work in your vehicle. Call a locksmith and get it cared for so you can drive your toy. About $100 is what I last paid for this service, and I can fix anything. May as well do it ya know.

HOW TO DO A 10 MINUTE RESTART ON 98 FIREBIRD
You can't do that on your vehicle ! What problem are you having ? Security light lit on the dash ? Lost key ? Probably need ignition lock cylinder , when you stick the key into the lock cylinder there are contacts inside that read the resistor on the side of the key > These contacts wear out , wires break . You can buy a new lock cylinder , if that is the problem or buy a resistor of same value at radio shack an solder it into wire harness . There are videos on youtube on how to do it.

What wire can i cut behind the sterio for the antitheft fuelpump cutoff
There is no wire you can cut ,doing this will make your vehicle never start .
The Personal Automotive Security System (PASS-Key II?®) is standard equipment on the vehicle. The system is designed to prevent vehicle theft by disabling the engine unless an ignition key with a specific electrical resistance is used in the ignition cylinder. The PASS-Key II?® system and the universal theft deterrent operate separately. The universal theft deterrent system is optional. The PASS-Key II?® system includes the following components:
?€¢
The ignition key

?€¢
The body control module (BCM)

1998 PONTIAC POWER WINDOW PROBLEMS
Double check all your fuses and and wires in connection with your power windows. Unfortunately though pontiacs are notorious for the power window motor regulators to go out, my buddy had 99 firebird and both windows had the same problem, and I previously owned a 98 sunfire and both window motors went out within the same week.

What is causing my firebird to burn up a battery every few weeks?
Is the car parked or are you driving it? While its running, what does the battery gauge show? It the meter above or below the midway mark? Its either a bad alternator (or one with bad connection to the battery) or something in the car electrically is causing the battery to drain, like the radio is on even though it may not show itself being on. Good alternator test (although some don't recommend doing it this way) is to start the car and as its running disconnect the battery's ground connection. If the car stalls, you have an alternator problem. Connection or it is bad and needs replacing.
