I have a water leak
Are you sure this isn't a "weep hole"? Many water pumps have them, and they leak when the pump has gone bad. Plugging them won't help, and could cause engine failure.
How do i replace the thermostate in a 1987 nissan sentra
Where the top radiator hose connects to the engine is where the thermostat housing is. Remove the top radiator hose and remove the two bolts that attach the cover of the thermostat housing. What you see now is the top of the thermostat. grab hold of it and remove it. The paper gasket may hinder the easy removal of the thermostat. Just tug a little harder and it will come free. scrape off any remaining gasket material from the housing and the cover. Put the new thermostat in and the gasket on top of it. Use a liquid sealant on the cover side of the gasket...not both sides. Position the cover back on the housing and tighten both bolts. Push the radiator hose back on and tighten the clamp. Add lost coolant and start the engine. Let it run long enough to open the new thermostat. Recheck the coolant level and top off as needed.

Can i fit a turbo skyline engine (rb30) in a nissan sentra 1987
Hi,
Thanks for using FixYa.
The answer is... Yes you can... All it requires is patience and skills. You'd need to squeeze the engine in your car. This might require you to cut some chassis parts in your engine bay just to accommodate such big and powerful engine. Best wishes with the engine swap buddy.
Thanks. Have a good one.

Have 1987 nissan sentra wagon 1.6 carb.engine the
Check your Ignition timing before anything
check your plugs see what color they are
red or orange means carb is to lean , black
or oil means to rich then you can go from there
and set mixture screws on carb , let me no how you make out .
No fuel geting to the carburater
well it could be one of three things., Faulty fuel pump , clogged fuel filter, Or the fuel pump relay may be bad. When you turn the key on do you hear a whining sound by the fuel tank? If you do the pump is working, It could also be what is called vapor locked, Loosen the fuel cap and see if you get fuel then..
I have a 1987 nissan setra i was on my wat to work
The ignition relay acts like a breaker in a house; when you have a relay that is weak, you will get this problem. But the computer will test it as good because it still is good. It's just weak, making it trip. The reason it will start again is because the relay will automatically reset itself after the relay cools and you are off and running again. To explain the type of reaction your car or truck would experience if this were to happen is as follows:The car or truck will just plain die! no warning!IT WILL NOT spit and sputter like it is running out of gas.
Now, a module for the distributer will act the same way, but the difference is that the car or truck will not continue to start after a period of time.My suggestion is a cheap way to fiqure this out: purchase a continuity tester at any local hardware store (they are only a couple of dollars) and check the leads coming from the distributer mod. If it is good, it will light up the continuity tester. If it is bad, it won't. This only works if the car will not run at all because the mod will check good if it is weak as well as the ignition relay.Another way to fiqure this out is to go to a local junk yard and pick up a distributer mod and a ignition relay and it will cost you maybe the better part of $10.00 and you may be worry free as long as you own the car with the used part. But if you feel uncomfortable putting used parts into the ingnition system, then replace one or the other but not both and see which one works and then buy new.
- Check your computer for trouble codes.Any problem will be stored in the computer, even if it is intermittent. also check the fuel filter,, that cuses motor shut off
I have a 1987 Nissan
The splines in the torque converter are stripped, very common problem back in the day.Transmission will need to be removed and torque coverter replaced. rebuilt converter should run about 150 to 200 plus labor and some fluid.
