Whistling sound when stepping on accelerator 4m40

I don't know if this is the right place. But I have a 98 Pajero 4m40. It starts and idles nicely, but upon acceleration, engine sounds terrible, almost like a non turbo L200 engine, even with the intercooler connected and turbo whistling. Please help.

4m41 engine

run the fault codes if the engine is too early for ECM controls , it indicates a governor problem in the fuel pump in that case have a diesel specialist shop check it out

Replacing spark plugs

unless you have a specific issue with the plugs , don't waste your money changing them the v6 engine has the rear plugs as platinum plugs because it is near impossible to change them and modern engines ( manufacturer design fault in the location of the engine and so they fitted special plugs before installing the engine ) plugs last the life of the engine if you are doing a "tune up" that is a waste of money as the ECM tunes the engine 60 times a minute all you have to do for a "tune up" is to have the fault codes read for sensor problems

How do i find the

Mitsubishi usually places their engine code numbers on the engine block. They are stamped on a flat surface usually on the passenger side and should be viewable without removing too much stuff. These stamped numbers can be faint at times if the stamp machine did not indent the number deeply. On later models, the numbers are located near the oil filter and below the spark plugs area. Mitsubishi also posted metal plaques on the firewall to show engine model as well.

Battery is dead every time I hook up the charger the alarm goes off and the led buttons broke

How old is the battery? some survive 5 year, some 8, but that is about the max. Then you always should check if there is still enough fluid in the battery. Don't use normal water. distilled water only.

Carrepair

Put some fresh gasoline into the tank. Charge (or replace) the battery. Change the gasoline (not oil) filter. Change the spark-plugs. If it has a manual (not an automatic) transmission, push-start it.
