After failing to enter the correct code in 3 successive tries, you must leave the key in the "ignition on" position with the radio on. This will allow you 3 more tries to reset the 5 digit code.
If you enter an erroneous digit, you must complete the 5 digit code, even though it is wrong. You have 2 more attempts to enter the correct code.

have you solved this problem yet?i have the same problem

check all the fuses first. If thats not the problem it is very possible your starter is out. If the horn work and all other electric works.....If just some of the electrical works it is a good posibility it is the igniction switch.

i may suggest you have a good battery.under ignition system, to test any, under to this system need to have a good battery. it must read under the specification or within the range of a battery to say you have a good battery.cold weather drains the charge of a battery.

A lot of older automatic BMW's do this, If you restrict the idle air valve with a hose clamp it will stop. As for making the "repair" I have tested and tried all things related with that bypass and over the last 4 years have yet to find out why.

Is this an automatic?

you owners manual will contain that information. In most cases like this for BMW it is the ignition switch, to clarify, not the ignition lock. regards,ZiM

BMW does not keep a lot of fuses in the drivers compartment like most car companies. If you open your hood on the passenger side near the fire wall, there is a medium to large cover under it you will find, the battery, ECU, and of course next to it the fuse and relay bus. regards, ZiM

maybe your keys left in ignition. or something you use in your cigarette lighter, hood light or trunk light. staying on or glove box light. maybe new battery.

the plug into the pump cud be corroded--pull and clean--chec fuses--pump may need replacin--must hav about 35psi--

Meter show hot, but have you checked the bottom radiator hose, if thats not hot then have the thermostat relaced before you blow the head gasket.

Might be necessary to copy and paste link to view it.

Look for this, you can use P/S fluid or dextron III (transmission fluid)

The only thing I can suggest at this time is let it dry well, you didnot mention if the steam wash was done on the engine or the interior?
