I am shocked that the dealer cant fix it, even after warranty. But it sounds like a switch/sensor on the transfer case, or the 4x4 is engaged, and the computer hasnt relayed it to your dash. Can you feel the 4x4 engage? You should be able to.
Check engine light

Indicator light
This indicator lamp is for the Electronic Throttle Control. If it is on while the engine is running, the vehicle should still be drivable, but requires a service check. If it is flashing while the engine is running, the engine will run poorly or not at all.
It is normal for this lamp to come on for a few seconds when you first start the engine, this serves as a test to be sure the lamp is working.
May need lifters
im pretty sure this is auxilary emission control---could be a leak in a vacuum hose or anywhere in emission system. hope this helps.
Gas Cap Error with Check Engine light
By "Replace the gas cap", do you mean put it back on, or buy another one? If you fuel these trucks with the engine running, or don't tighten the gas cap, the light will come on. It will also come on when the seal in your gas cap goes bad. I have had to replace the gas cap on my jeep and dodge already. It fixed the problem both times.
Engine Light on
It could indicate any number of problems, the best thing to do is go to a local shop or auto part store and have them do a diagnostic code reading, then if they don't tell you what the code means, post back and we will.
2007 dodge Ram 1500 hemi fuel cap sensor comes on
I have the same problem. It started with engine code 0440 (evap system malfunction). I changed the gas cap and now getting the "loose cap" light plus the 0456 (evap leak very small) and 0457 (gas cap loose/off)
Anyone know where the sensor is located?
2007 Ram 1500 will not start
I can not solve this but with more information I may be able to help. If your truck is equipped with an automatic trans it could be a problem with the TIP system. See page 305 in owners manual. I do not know what the Tip is but I know that my truck will not crank and it has a TIP system. TIP is not Installed on manual transmissions. If your truck is manual then you have a possible of 4 corrective actions. 1. Ignition switch. The switch is adjustable and maybe out of adjustment. 2. Starter sel-a-noid . Follow the big wire from the starter it should be connected to the selanoid . it can also be part of the starter. 3. The starter could need new brushes. and 4. A loose wire at the selanoid.
