I have a 2004 Hyundai Elantra, bought in july of 05.....just less than 4 1/2 years old. This year as... (More) I have a 2004 Hyundai Elantra, bought in july of 05.....just less than 4 1/2 years old. This year as soon as temperatures got below the 40's my car started to stall at times when starting cold and driven withing the first 5 min of driving. sometimes it would even stall two times in a row....after waiting 5 min or so and starting it again. When it stalls the car loses power(duh) and i start to hear a clicking sound coming from under the engine cover(the engine is not running at all) I think this is coming from the intake or fuel injection system. that clicking will last for a min or two and then when i try to start it it will try to start but usually wont for 5-10 mins. after attempting to start and failing that clicking noise will return. when it stalls the engine light comes on as well as the oil light...i have oil in the car and then engine light and oil light turn off as soon as i turn off the key I took it into the dealer 4 times last year (same problem, they ended up switching out the crank position sensor with a used one...supposedly thats what fault code was tripping...it kept happening but i had lost confidence in them so i dealt with it till it got warmer...) and since its stalled 6 times in the last month I took it in yesterday. they called to say it was ready to go and they couldn't reproduce the condition i told them about and couldnt find anything wrong with it (i'm assuming they didnt even pull any fault codes out, which is weird... .i did replace my battery a week and a half ago) I can't continue to deal with this(not knowing when my cars going to shut off....having to leave 30 min early in case my car wants to stall twice when I'm going somewhere....it always happens when i dont expect it to) car is under bumper to bumper warranty for 7 more months....so of course i want this taken care of now.... any ideas, please help me...I do have an audio recording of the clicking sound it makes after stalling and trying to start after stalling.
