National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Recall (Aug 08, 2000)

Problem

Vehicle description: light duty pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles equipped with vacuum power, 4-wheel disc brakes. these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of fmvss no. 105, "hydraulic brake systems." these vehicles were built with a kinked brake booster vacuum supply hose.

Consequence

These vehicles do not comply with requirements of fmvss no. 105.

Resolution

Dealers will re-route the brake booster vacuum supply hose.

Owner notification began september 22, 2000. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or gmc at 1-800-462-8782. also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
