At the petro turn off there is a gas line take it off an it will drain out.direct the gas to a jug with a hose or funel.

How do I change the gas line from the shut off to the tank


If you have any room. Try using a pair of needle nose vice grips with some of that fuel line slipped over the teeth on tool. Now pinch that line closed and use a rag to catch whatever residual gas in line. Divert line to a gas can and drain tank. Now replacements can be made.

My gas tank got water in it so I took the carb off drained and cleaned it and put a new spark plug in but its still running bad


Carb probly gut corroded from water. Get some cleanr from a marine stor and addit totank. Auto cleanr wont work

It will start but dies when I give it gas, what will cause that?


Hi Jeremy:
Opening the throttle will allow more air into the Carb.
If there is not enough gas available, that will lean the engine out and it will die.
I would recommend that you start you trouble shoot by draining and cleaning the carb, gas tank and fuel filter. Start over with fresh fuel. If the problem persists I would remove the carb and clean it carefully with compressed air, then try again.
If tat does not cure it, Reply as a comment to this post and we'll try some more.

How to get water out of your gas tank on a atv


Best way would be to remove the tank and inverting it, filler side down. be sure not to have it near flammable or volatile goods. best would be to use a bucket and dispose of fuel in a correct manner. After draining it and keeping it inverted for an hour or two you can use air to dry the inside.
another quick way if you have access to the hose connected to the carb is to take it off and drain into a bucket. Lift the bike on one side so that the tap side is lower so the fluid can drain better.

2009 Yamaha 400 coughs intermittently on starting and running. Runs better when engine warm.


These are all symptoms of a lean condition. Most likely cause is dirty carburator passages and jets. This could be from sitting up for a long period of time causing a build up of gum and varnish or it could be a gradual thing if unit sits for shorter periods between uses(4-6 weeks). The ethenol content in todays gasoline is such that each time the carb dries out in those short periods of inactivity it leaves a corrosive buildup in the carb. Over time this can cause clogging to the extent of a running problem such as you have. Im afraid a thorough fuel system(tank to carb) flushing-cleaning- adjusting is in order.

I just bought a mud blaster 110cc quad for my son, why does it start then 2 min later stop even with feathering the throttle?


#1 sounds like a fuel delivery system issue. Make sure the fuel tank flows freely to the carb. (remove the fuel line from the carb--from the gas tank and turn on the petcock--gas should flow freely) The needle and seat may need to be cleaned or replaced, this controls the flow of gas into the float bowl of the carb.(remove the drain screw from the bottom of the carb (with everything properly assembled- petcock on)..gas should continually flow through the bottom of the carb --10-15 seconds of continual gas flow will make sure its flowing properly! Both of these sound like a solution to your problem.

My nephew put the wrong gas inside of it. Weedeatter gas


Drain the gas from the tank and the carburetor put in fresh gas and if it has a bowl drain on the carb leave it open until the fresh gas starts running out. If that doesn't work the carb will likely have to be removed and cleaned.

Check for spark at spark plugs then check fuel and fuel filter .

Troubleshooting a small Petrol engine that won't start requires a series of short tests and the process of elimination.
Understanding the principles of how a small engine operates is helpful but not necessary.
Proper disposal of hazardous liquids will be required.
The knowledge gained in the performance of this procedure can be applied to many different types and sizes of internal combustion engines.
The average weekend mechanic can complete the process in about an hour.
Put on the safety glasses.
Remove the gas cap and check that there is gas in the fuel tank.
Look at the inline gas cutoff valve located below the gas tank on the fuel line and make sure it is in the on position, with the knob turned straight in line with the fuel line.
Look at the spark plug and check that the wire is securely plugged onto the plug.
Try to turn the spark plug by hand and make sure it is screwed firmly into the hole.
Look at the ground strap by the spark plug and make sure it is not touching the spark plug.
Look at the kill switch located by the controls and make sure it is in the run position.


Remove the air filter by unsnapping its box-like cover or removing the wing nut that holds it onto the carburetor.
Lift the air filter out of the holder and set it aside.
Spray a shot of starting fluid from the aerosol can into the empty air filter area of the carburetor and try to start the engine.
Let the engine run about 30 seconds or until it dies.

Eliminate the electrical system as the cause of the problem if the engine started right up, ran a few moments, and quit.
Remove the gas line from the carburetor by loosening its hose clamp with the screwdriver kit.
Hold the fuel line over the clear glass container and let some gas run into it.
Look at the gas, checking for water and impurities.

Drain the gas tank if the gas looked impure.
Remove the gas filter from the fuel line by loosening its hose clamps with the screwdriver kit.
Replace the gas filter with a new one if the gas did not run into the glass at a rapid pace.
Reinstall the gas line and gas filter.
Fill the gas tank with new gas.

Find a small drain bolt located on the very bottom middle of the carburetor.
Place a small container that gas won't melt under it and remove it with the wrench kit.
Let the old gas drain out of the bottom until the new gas starts to flow out. Screw the drain bolt back into the bottom of the carburetor.

Clean up any spilled gas off the motor and elsewhere with the shop rag.
Place the rag in the metal bucket a safe distance from the work area.
Clean the air filter with warm, soapy water if it is the spongy type, or replace it with a new one.
Install the air filter. Start the engine.

Unplug the spark plug wire from the spark plug if the engine did not start.
Hold the insulated part of the spark plug wire with one hand and place the bare part about 1/4 inch away from the top of the spark plug.

Try to start the engine and watch for a spark between the wire and the plug. Replace the spark plug wire with a new one if it shocked you through the insulation.
Remove the spark plug using the spark plug wrench and replace it with a new one if there was a spark.
Try to start the engine. Let the engine run until it performs smoothly.

Do not do anything else if there was no spark, as the trouble is inside the internal workings of the engine and requires professional repair and tools.

Where is the gas drain plug on my polaris 500 ho atv/ need to drain bad gas from the tank


There is no "drain" so to speak.. you need to remove the tank, then remove the petcock,,,the gas will then drain out..
