First get the voltage of the battery checked. If battery is showing proper voltage then check the limiter nut on the primary clutch. Sometimes they back off and don't let the clutch shift all the way out. Also have you checked the belt to make sure is not wore out? Check the plastic nut in the primary clutch. Also check the fuel line and fuel pressure. If fuel line is kinked or blocked or if fuel pressure is low, then it can cause this problems.-----------This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Can be possible, check the carb boot between the carb and the motor. These things are notorious for cracking on the bottom side where you cant see it.
----------------In service manual, for this problem it says:---
From service manual - Engine idles but will not rev up
    Spark plug fouled/weak spark.
    Broken throttle cable.
    Obstruction in air intake.
Air box removed ( reinstall all intake components ).
Incorrect battery connection or battery low on charge.
    ETC switch limiting speed.
    Reverse speed limiter limiting speed.
    Caruretor vacuum slide sticking/diaphragm damaged.
    Incorrect ignition timing.
    Restricted exhaust system.
    ----------------
Also check the air flow mixture.there is a screw to adjust it.to access the screw you have to drill the the brass cap off the bottom side of carb.
If drilling out plug ,be careful, use small bit dont drill too deep or can damage fuel/air screw, then use a screw in plug and pull out. COUNT number of turns clockwise till lightly seats, make adjustments from there.------------------- This should help.thanks.Helpmech.

Why does my Yamaha grizzly 700 engine brake fail going down hill

If you're in to low a gear, the clutch might be slipping under stress from high revs. You might need a new clutch or stronger springs. Try using a higher gear and use 50% braking.

Was installing a winch on my 2009 prowler 700 xtx hooked positive cable to selanoid winch did not work, hooked direct to battery, works, rig wont start

Where did you ground the winch motor? You need a separate, heavy duty, switch with a relay to transfer the positive side voltage properly... DO NOT ground to the battery..use a clean, free of paint, place to ground. You may have fried the solenoid..do not connect the positive side to the solenoid. Direct connection to the + battery from the relay is good with a good waterproof fuse in line. Sometimes I have seen the "maint. free" batteries die when used "wrong" and still show 13 volts+.

sounds like you are hitting the rev limiter. If it launches that hard im guessing you have a belt or clutch issue.
