I would start by checking your coils, the primary resistance should read 0.5 ohms the coil secondary resistance ( spark plug removed) 6400 ohms then if thats good check thepulse coil air gap 0.016 to 0.030 inch and the pulse coil resistance white/red to white 522 ohms and white/red to ground inifinity ohms and your spark plug cap resistance 5000 ohms. In the mix of all this I would also check that all the connections are tight. Good luck.
Bad ignition switch or cdi
I have same problem. No spark. Coil checks good on resistnace and at the harness to the cdi checks all within specs according to tech at dealership. Says to start with a CDI but says that may not be the problem. Says no way to check the cdi and it cost $350 plus labor = $500? Tried to find one on line as it suppose to be plug and play. Come on two mounting screws and plug in the harness? Mines a 2003 Trail Boss 330.

Let me get this straight from the begining.lwish to indicate the possible jobs that need to be done.
1. first of all clean the carb once again, check the fuel to the carburetor. Please make sure that the fuel is free from dirt , conatins any water/ rust in the fuel.
2.Once again make sure of the spark.take the spark plug out of the cylinder and check, adjust the gap to about .5
3.Crank and make sure that there is no flooding in the cylinder, pump up several times to clean the cylinder as therby you will have an idea of the compression as well as disperre off any signs of moisture.
4.If possible heat up the plugs a bit in a good flame and put it into the cylinder.connect the plug and see plug sparking in timing.
5. Make sure there is new fuel in tank.
6. Crank for starting.
I am sure these tips must make the engine fire up.
Repeat the procedure , change spark plug if needed, clean the contactor points , check the capacitor or replace.
I am sure these tips would help.
