the airbox was full of fuel, I removed the carb cleaned and replaced all the necessary jets. Reinstalled the carb, it started for a few minutes, and as I revved the engine, Black smoke came from engine area in location of carb, it started hesitating and backfired and shutdown, and I could not start it again. Any ideas ?

Sounds like it could be a timing issue. Check the flywheel key has not wore and moved from the slot. You will need to remove the pull cord cover and access the flywheel to see if its worn. The key will be a small piece of "metal" that will slide into a slot between your stator and the spline from the engine. The "key" keeps the spline and stator lined up for timing, which would cause smoke and backfiring, even power loss, and sputtering. Hope this helps!

You feel its not a carburetor issue ?
being it was running fine, untill the last time I used it, which has been awhile. It's been sitting ever since, and when I ran it it wouldn't run good at low to half throttle. But when I went to full throttle it seemed fine. When I checked airbox it was full of fuel, so I assumed a carb issue, cleaned it all up, and when I started it it was fine for a few minutes, then started to act up. I also played with the tang on the float, trying to get that right. If its not set exact can that be causing my problem also, along with the fuel jet ?

My 2001 polaris scrambler 500 is back firing out the carb what can it be and do you no the compression it should have.

If it is running but backfiring out the carb, I'd be looking at a burned intake valve.
If it's not nunning but backfires out the carb when you try to start it, I'd be looking at bad ignition or valve timing. I'd suggest that you review any recent maintenance to see if that could be the source of the problem.
