How do I fix would not start but engine does turn over? If it does start runs very rough then dies? Also says Vinson Quadrunner on side of gas tank if this helps?

How long does it run before you get bubbles? Sounds like the line is too close to something hot enough to boil the fuel, what mechanics call "vapor lock" Reroute the line or insulate it.

What makes you think its trying to run backwards...?? On a 4-stroke - this is odd!! .... I don't think a 4 stroke will run backwards!!.. (But, I have actually seen a two-cycle engine run backwards.... just retard the timing to zero).
1. Have you changed the spark plug?
2. Have you had the carb cleaned and set by a professional
3. Have you put in a new air filter.
4. Have you had the timing checked..(with a timing light)
If the engine actually runs backwards it will cause engine damage.. all the moving parts are designed, clearances are set, and fuel/air intake and cam timing are all designed for the engine to turn in one direction,,, when it does turn backwards, the valve train clearances are taken up and sometimes the valves will hit the pistons...(on a V-8 the cam chain controls all this..its "slack" only works correctly in one direction).. Please do 1 through 4 and repost with the results, Thank yoe

Sounds to me like a battery and/or charging issue. But could be a loose connection somewhere too.

I assume engine is still running but losing drive. Simplest thing is
belt has worn.

charge or replace your battery

I would follow lines coming out from the gas tank to see one that goes to carburetor . I would try to blow mild force air into that line and see,with tank cap off, bubbles come out from tank;then try starting it and if it runs a little longer then I imagine something is clogging the flow. Hope suggestion helps.

The sticky stuff is normal. On a lot of dirt bikes and 4 wheelers they have air filters that you are to wash either with a filter cleaner or gas and then you spray them down with a light oil and then wring them out until they have no extra oil in them and the oil helps filter the dirt out of the air heading into the engine. It does look in your picture like it is needing a cleaning.

Check all the easy things first gas on reverse ..is it in gear ..reverse handle is not hitting ? Hope it helps ..
