Hi Stacie:
Some engines have a secondary ignition wire to the coil from the solenoid circuit so that higher voltage is available for the start.
It may be that the ignition switch (key) is not functioning properly.
If you have access to a voltmeter you should be able to trace the power through from the battery to the coil.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

2006 Yamaha rhino 660 replace starter and solenoid. Starter won't disengage.

Check your start button for sticking if it is still running. If not, pull the starter and try it while out of the rhino and see if it works correctly. Make sure your bolts are torqued correctly.

2009 Ranger 500efi. I changed starter and starter Bendix. It's like something not releasing after it starts, I shut it of and it still turns over. Sometimes after it starts it's got a odd noise

Turn over is the process that an engine makes when it is trying to start. If you twist the key and get nothing then it wont turn over. Google shimming a starter and watch the vids.

Hit the start button and nothing happens 2008 750 brute force

Check your starter solenoid. You can trace it by following the power wire from the battery to the small solenoid block that contains a 30 amp fuse. You can bridge the posts on the solenoid by using needle nose pliers or whatever else you may have. If it starts up or you hear the starter run, you have a bad starter solenoid.

2009 grizzly 700 will only run when starter button is held display only works when trying to start it

The primary circuit has a ground connection so everything works... your secondary circuit doesn't have a solid ground. Go over all your ground connections carefully.

Arctic cat 400 won't start. Starts if you hold down starter button then cuts off when you let off the starter button.

You will burn the brushes in the starter out if you continue to do that. Try adjusting the idle screw in a little. It's probably on the carburetor.

Doesn't start ...just stopped running.the start button won't turn it over but still drawing power(dims neutral light).i tried turning it over by shorting across the solenoid quad turns over but won't...

is it carbureted? if so try a deep cleaning, now on the start button issue it sounds like you need a new starter soleniod are there is a short somewhere. find a wiring digram and start trouble shooting at the solenoid.
