1998 suzuki quadrunner lt-f250 front brake drum removal


if its been stuck a long time (which sounds like a good bet) its going to take some force to get them off. maybe bolt a chain to the hub studs then swing a sledgehammer attached to it to jerk it off. if that model has adjusters (think its automatic??) back it off or there might be a button you push behind the rubber plug to release the auto adjusters.

2001 rancher 350trx atv. Runs good but no take off power. Give all the gas it hardly goes but when it gets up to speed its pretty fast. Why no take off power on 350cc honda


Could be a handful of things; 2 that you could check and let me know what the outcome is will narrow it down -

1. When was the last clutch replacement done on the bike if any? When your clutch starts to go - one of the symptoms is loss of power at take off.

Here's something you can do and I believe the 350 had a basket as well as a centrifugal clutch if you have an adjustment - there should be a nut on a stud on the front cover of the engine. Front Housing is what it's called. You can't miss the stud - it's on the engine cover that faces forward. That's your clutch adjustment. Hold the stud stationary and loosen the nut - should be a 10 or 12mm - once the nut is backed off - loosen the stud - then go counter clockwise slowly until you start to feel resistance - once you feel resistance - go forward about a 1/4 turn.

That's a standard clutch adjustment for multiple makes & models especially the Foreman, etc. I've got a 2000 TRX450 and that's the clutch adjustment*. If this atv has the hondamatic - or no clutch adjustment stud/nut - I'd pull that front cover off and check the tolerance on your centrifugal clutch.

2. - every 6 months or 500 hours they recommend you check and adjust your valves as needed. No one does it and the valves get out of whack. What could possibly be happening - your valves need adjustment - when you start the bike and until it's really warmed up performance will suffer. Once they bike warms up, heat makes everything expand - and if you're on that threshold - you'll run terrible at first/better as the valves warm up. You'll see this play out everytime you get on it and it hasn't been running in 20 hours.

Could be a carb issue as well, your idle and slow jets could be getting clogged up. Or your pilot screw's o-ring is shot and you're drawing too much air at idle/slow speeds and evens out under demand. Once that happens - you'll probably idle okay/nothing great - putting around will be about the same - but when you're on full throttle your carb pulls from a different jet. Each jet has a job - idle jet, slow jet, fast jet, - if you haven't cleaned the inside of that carb out in awhile - now is the time to do it - if nothing else, you'll have a clean carb and you'll have that knocked off your list.

These aren't the only causes by far - there's a flow chart attached/it's from an 04 TRX400 - Same rules apply. I didn't touch on electrical - but if you check on the things above/need any tips going through the flow chart, etc. feel free to shoot me a message. Glad to help if possible.

If your engine has adjustable jets they will be accessible on the outside of the carb, and can be accessed without removing the carb as you will use them to tune the engine while it is running.

Why does the carb keep flooding?


In the absence of something like a faulty or porous casting of the carb allowing fuel to bypass the float valves then sticking or leaky float valves, sticking or punctured floats or an excessive fuel line pressure must be the problem.

Where no isolating tap is fitted to a gravity feed system the float valves must be virtually perfect and the only way to ensure perfect seating is to examine the surfaces under a strong magnification and then verify correct seating by using a vacuum pump and gauge.

An excessive line pressure can be caused by a blocked fuel tank breather.

Why won't it idle without choke?


Fuel supply problem somewhere. How is the float adjustment and the float valve? I'd guess the level adjustment is too low.

Some models have a reverse gear lock on them which will make them stop when the engine light is 'on'. If the engine used was one of these and yours didn't have the reverse gear safety on it that could be your problem. A Polaris dealer will be able to tell you from the engine number what year it is. If it is the same year and model, it could be the timing adjustment. If you validate the timing adjustment, then its the carburetor. Rebuild it.

How to time an engine in a Bobcat 3400 xl (gas)


Take the spark plug(s) out and bring the top of a piston all the way up to Top Dead Center (TDC) using a pencil, eraser inwards to feel the piston top come up to its maximum travel. The timing chain needs to be aligned to the triangle mark indicator to match the piston position. Then adjust the timing advance according to the mfr's specs.

First is the engine Diesel or Gas?
if it is a diesel engine it has almost got to be a compression or fuel problem if it is a Gas engine it can be a valve adjustment, fuel, compression, or spark problem

I have a Panther 110 4 wheeler that runs great but won't pull. Have changed the clutch and carbuerator but still won't pull


Have the valves checked. The will after time come out of adjustment. It is something you can do yourself in a clean area. On the front of the engine there is what looks like a big bolt head ( 1 on top and 1 on bottom of motor on head). Remove them both, and by manually turning the engine over( spark plug removed) put the piston on top dead center(TDC). Watch the lifters as you turn the motor over to see witch lifter is closed/open. The closed lifter(lifter will be down when closed). On the lifter there is a small lock nut. loosen the nut so you can turn the adjustment screw. Turn the screw in till it touches the spring cap. You should be able to slightly move the rocker side to side but not up and down. This is a good way to adjust the valves without a feeler gauge. Hope this helps.
