Question about ATVs

2 Answers

I have a 2002 suzuki ozark. When I start it up and put it in gear and lift up the back end and give it gas the tires will move. But once I get on it and set down it won't go. Some people say it's the axle because it wobbles and they say the gears in the axle could be stripped. But I have no clue. Can someone please help?

I recommend a repair manual from if they have it, or MFG website, or
You will learn a lot about your vehicle, and have it the next time you need it.

Looked at a manual and it basically said axle. But I don't understand why it will go if the tires are lifted up off the ground.

SOURCE: I have a 2002 gmc sierra. when i put it in gear,

If you have that much play back there, first check rear universal . If play is present in pinion with shaft removed, you will not be happy with what you find inside the cover.1/2 turn of lash in any gearset is far beyond the scope of any adjustment. Rebuilding is an exact science and must be done with special tools and lots of experience.

Could be but you may just be very low on transmission fluid. The proper way to check it will be printed on the dip stick if it's original. Be careful adding your transmission fluid, over filling your transmission can ruin it faster than running it to low on fluid. Between the min and max marks your transmission will take about 1/2 pint.

I would start by replacing U-Joints. They are really common issues when it comes to clunking noises. I'd start there.

I have a 2002 suzuki ozark 250 2x4 that is very hard to up shift.

Hey Barry, has the quad been flipped onto the left side,? Sounds like you may have a bent shift other possibility is the shifter needs adjusting (some newer engines do not have adjustments). I am guessing it is easy to down shift? If the shift shaft is bent.. be careful , you can easily crack the engine case!!

Rear end clunking

the rear differentials have been known to have some problems. you may have to open up the differential to make sure there are not broken or badly worn pieces inside. also check your u-joints.
