Question about Polaris 2004 Magnum 330 4X4
2004 polaris magnum has new battery. Lights work but when trying to start it makes one click and doesnt fire but will start when pull started. Selinoid has been replaced as well. Wat else could it be?
Let's determine whether the amperage is getting to the starter.
Turn headlights on, and watch the headlight while attempting to start.
When the "click" happens hold the switch in the start position.
If the headlight dims, the starter is bad because the amperage is reaching the starter and its not spinning.
If the headlight doesn't dim, there is no amperage reaching the windings of the starter, likely it is bad starter cable ends, but it too could be the starter with a burnt wire inside between the solenoid and the windings, to test this you would need to power the motor only portion of the starter with a jumper.(crossing the terminals of the solenoid) Warning, sparks will fly when you do this, but if it is burnt, there will be no sparks.

It sounds like you have a bad starter motor.

SOURCE: My 2007 polaris 450 sportsman used to start with the pull start 2nd pull, now it starts for a couple seconds and stalls ,does this three or 4 x then starts and runs fine,by the way it won't start with
Could be time to replace battery, this is most likely the culprit. These fourwheelers are very picky when it comes to low power. Your starter is also most likely just fine, the clicking you hear is the solenoid on the starter, so your battery has some juice, but not enough amps to turn over the starter. Also If the fourwheeler has sat for a long time then you may just need to charge the battery. The 2007 is most likely fuel inject which uses even more fuel when running and it also has its own computer kind of like a PCM in a car or truck. These all need a good supply of power and the stator which is like an alternator usually needs the help of a fully charged battery to keep everything running properly. Also note, once you get a new battery or charge it in some cases the ATV should run smoother.
