Have you disconnected the battery and tried charging it to see if it would hold a charge disconnected? If not, the battery is probably bad. If it will hold a charge, then connect the battery ground cable, then touch the positive cable to the positive battery post and watch for a spark (make sure the key is turned off). If there's a spark, then something is pulling your batter down when the bike isn't running. Now if you have an electronic speedometer, dash gauges, etc., those will draw in order to maintain memory. Disconnect the wires to them then try again.
There's only so much I can tell you this way. I work on electrical systems often, and it can be a real process.

It isnt caring then. That may be one of several things including the stator, a bad connection in the harness, or a bad rectiier. The stator would be the hardest and probably most expensive to fix. If you have a volt meter it's possible to check the voltage generated by the stator. Some vehicles have to have a battery in the circuit even if it's bad. Yo can try disconnecting the battery while the bike is running. If it keeps running, turn all the lights on. If it still runs then it's charging good but the charge isn't reaching the battery.

Mule 550, It starts fine, but will not shut off when the key is turned off....any suggestions?

Hey Matt, sounds like the switch is going bad.. I would see if it will start - WITH THE KEY OFF by "jumping" the solenoid.. if the switch is bad.. it might start... and confirm the switch is bad..

Free repair manual 2007 kawasaki kaf950c

Hi, Lynda the vast majority of service, parts, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee around $10 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. To download your manual please click on the links below. Good luck and have a nice day.

Kawasaki Mule 1999 Model

Hello Anon..
First, I would check to make sure the carbs are getting fuel, and then fuel getting into the cylinders. Your question about low oil - did you let it get low and then it quit? ...
If you put oil into the cylinders and only got 100psi, this might be your problem. You should be pumping around 120+psi without putting anything into the cylinders... Recheck the compression.= .take out all spark plugs...screw the gauge in until the o-ring seats, hold the throttle wide open while spinning the engine over for about 5 seconds... you should get 120psi +/- 10psi.
If you are getting less than 100psi.. it might be time for a rebuild..
