Replace fuel filter. check spark plug. fuel has waste in it bad fuel maybe.. has it been setting a long time. remove sediment bowl from carb. should at least drain the carb and catch the fuel from the drain. examine fuel caught for bubbles in bottom of fuel container. air filter clean? adj timing ? does it smoke when running? backfire? choke off ?

I checked all of the above except timing that may be a bit outta my league. It never sits long and gas and filter seem to be ok. The day it started acting up I did take for a long and tough ride. The quad seems to give plenty of throttle but will not go to secondary gears stays at 20mph and revs really high. I checked belts and seems a little loose but turns just fine. Not sure what else to check any Ideas?.
it prolly the belt if it revs really hi and dont move any faster than 20. have you ever replaced the belt
01 yeah belt wore to thin if it has never been replaced
I will replace the belt . Yhe quad is a 2011 belt seems a bit loose not to worn though. Any way to tighten ?
