Polaris Xpress 300. Won't start, backfires through carb sometimes

Changed spark plug. Gas is backing up into the airfilter box. backfires sometimes. Has suction going into the carb when turning over and pressure coming out of the exhaust when turning over.
Any idea what is wrong. Help Please.

Sounds like maybe the needle and seat in the carb letting gas through.

I have seen this problem of fuel draining into air box and down into crank case. then it wont run past idle and backfires. TAKE MY ADVISE do not keep running or trying to run without checking to be sure there is no gas in your crank case,it will trash engine. As for the problem...it is either the needle, the float or the rubber ring that the needle pushes against to stop fuel flow when bowl is full.If it is the seat or ( rubber ring)In some carbs it cannot be replaced. This means go buy a new carb...they are not cheap but cheaper than motor and carb understand. Replace float, needle, seat if possible or carb if not possible then drain oil in crank replace oil ,oil filter wipe out air box let air filter dry put it all together and go ride!Hope this helps.

The needle vavle in the carb might be sticking. Also check the throttle cable itself it may have some sand or dirt in it. move the throttle back and forth of it sounds like there is any grit in it try spraying some silicon spray or wd-40 in it.

89 Polaris Ranger500 6x6 side by sideis coughing, spitting and backfireing thew carb.whats the fix

I would start by pulling and cleaning the carb, air filter and spark plug. Usually the cause starts with dirty air filters that gets the carbs dirty which then cause the polaris to run rich and the plug will start to foul. The unburnt fuel ignites at the wrong time and back fires. A less likely problem would be out of timing.

4 wheeler has sat for 3years. New carb diaphragm & idles fine. hit the throttle & it backfires & dies. Carb has been apart numerous times. Starts right back up. Not flooded.

Have you changed the fuel out, bad gas can cause this, also fuel lines and filter should be replaced as the ethanol eats the lines and filter.
Those hoses sound like the vents for the tank and carb.
When you replaced carb did you tighten the rubber boot that mounts the carb to the engine? if there is a crack in this boot it will suck air and cause this engine to stall,

My four wheeler gets spark and gas to the carb but wont start what else could it be?

Carb could be dirty, float stuck or choke stuck. Pull plugs, crank engine and see if you are getting raw gas in the cylinder(s). If you don't get gas to the cylinders, you won't start. You also could have a flooded carburetor.

carbon on the plugs indicates flooding
the backfire indicates fuel being ignited in the exhaust
have the carby /fuel system professionally overhauled
