Question about RTO 200cc Full Size Four Wheeler ATV

Removed the gastank to replace a fuel line. cant remember which hose goes where

Three lines come off the tank one smaller one doesnt connect to anything, where do the other two connect.

One is a drain hose. then there is one from tank to inlet of carb.

Fuel will not flow to carb


If you have the fuel petcock (valve assembly attached to bottom of fuel tank) to either 'on' or 'reserve' and no gas is flowing through the fuel line - the most likely culprit is either a) petcock itself is clogged or the filter inside the tank that is attached to petcock is clogged or b.) you could possibly have a malfunctioning fuel cap. The fuel caps are usually vented to allow excess pressure to vent off. If for any reason that fails - then basically it becomes a vacuum issue. You could try loosening the fuel cap - not completely removing - just loosen and see if the flow starts - if so, it's your cap. (Some you could shake to test function - you would hear a rattle if the mechanism was still good - not all though). If loosening cap doesn't help and you're sure you're in correct position - you'll have to remove that assembly. Two screws or bolts usually hold petcock to fuel tank. Remove those two bolts, usually a rubber o-ring type gasket or another type of gasket - and a tube/filter is attached to petcock. As you remove you'll see exactly what I'm talking about- that's actually your fuel filter/reason there is usually not an external fuel filter. IF it's not clogged - the issue lies within the petcock itself. Some are able to be disassembled, cleaned and reassembled - if not/replacing would be only option. These tips are assuming that you've removed fuel line from carb - if not, please check with fuel line removed - if you're still hooked to carb, but are sure there is no fuel flow - and fuel does flow when unhooked/clogged port to carb or your float is not functioning properly allowing fuel to enter carb. How do I change the gas line from the shut off to the tank


If you have any room. Try using a pair of needle nose vice grips with some of that fuel line slipped over the teeth on tool. Now pinch that line closed and use a rag to catch whatever residual gas in line. Divert line to a gas can and drain tank. Now replacements can be made.

4 wheeler has sat for 3years. New carb diaphragm & idles fine. hit the throttle & it backfires & dies. Carb has been apart numerous times. Starts right back up. Not flooded.


Have you changed the fuel out, bad gas can cause this, also fuel lines and filter should be replaced as the ethanol eats the lines and filter.
Those hoses sound like the vents for the tank and carb.
When you replaced carb did you tighten the rubber boot that mounts the carb to the engine? if there is a crack in this boot it will suck air and cause this engine to stall,

Have a 88 polaris trail boss. dosnt have any hoses hooked up to carb. cant find anything telling me how hoses are supposed to be ran. any help


There is usually only one hose connected to the carb... it goes from the fuel tank-=fuel filter to the carb at the top. The hose is s similar diameter used in lawnmowers and sold by the foot. There is a cable from the throttle which is tricky to get on sometimes as there is a spring on it. If you've never owned a motorcycle of removed throttle cables before, get with someone who has. The needle valve is visible protruding from the bottom of the throttle cable. There is a keeper clip on it and it sets on a particular groove on the needle valve.

2009 Yamaha 400 coughs intermittently on starting and running. Runs better when engine warm.


These are all symptoms of a lean condition. Most likely cause is dirty carburator passages and jets. This could be from sitting up for a long period of time causing a build up of gum and varnish or it could be a gradual thing if unit sits for shorter periods between uses(4-6 weeks). The ethenol content in todays gasoline is such that each time the carb dries out in those short periods of inactivity it leaves a corrosive buildup in the carb. Over time this can cause clogging to the extent of a running problem such as you have. Im afraid a thorough fuel system(tank to carb) flushing-cleaning- adjusting is in order.

Where do the vaccum lines on atv 400 eiger suzuki gooff the carb.


The vacuum line goes to the smaller of the two fittings on the fuel petcock. Suzuki used a vacuum controlled auto shut off mechanism in many of their fuel petcocks.

I would follow lines coming out from the gas tank to see one that goes to carburetor . I would try to blow mild force air into that line and see,with tank cap off, bubbles come out from tank;then try starting it and if it runs a little longer then I imagine something is clogging the flow. Hope suggestion helps.

Check for spark at spark plugs then check fuel and fuel filter .

Troubleshooting a small Petrol engine that won't start requires a series of short tests and the process of elimination.
Understanding the principles of how a small engine operates is helpful but not necessary.
Proper disposal of hazardous liquids will be required.
The knowledge gained in the performance of this procedure can be applied to many different types and sizes of internal combustion engines.
The average weekend mechanic can complete the process in about an hour.
Put on the safety glasses.
Remove the gas cap and check that there is gas in the fuel tank.
Look at the inline gas cutoff valve located below the gas tank on the fuel line and make sure it is in the on position, with the knob turned straight in line with the fuel line.
Look at the spark plug and check that the wire is securely plugged onto the plug.
Try to turn the spark plug by hand and make sure it is screwed firmly into the hole.
Look at the ground strap by the spark plug and make sure it is not touching the spark plug.
Look at the kill switch located by the controls and make sure it is in the run position.


Remove the air filter by unsnapping its box-like cover or removing the wing nut that holds it onto the carburetor.
Lift the air filter out of the holder and set it aside.
Spray a shot of starting fluid from the aerosol can into the empty air filter area of the carburetor and try to start the engine.
Let the engine run about 30 seconds or until it dies.

Eliminate the electrical system as the cause of the problem if the engine started right up, ran a few moments, and quit.
Remove the gas line from the carburetor by loosening its hose clamp with the screwdriver kit.
Hold the fuel line over the clear glass container and let some gas run into it.
Look at the gas, checking for water and impurities.

Drain the gas tank if the gas looked impure.
Remove the gas filter from the fuel line by loosening its hose clamps with the screwdriver kit.
Replace the gas filter with a new one if the gas did not run into the glass at a rapid pace.
Reinstall the gas line and gas filter.
Fill the gas tank with new gas.

Find a small drain bolt located on the very bottom middle of the carburetor.
Place a small container that gas won't melt under it and remove it with the wrench kit.
Let the old gas drain out of the bottom until the new gas starts to flow out. Screw the drain bolt back into the bottom of the carburetor.

Clean up any spilled gas off the motor and elsewhere with the shop rag.
Place the rag in the metal bucket a safe distance from the work area.
Clean the air filter with warm, soapy water if it is the spongy type, or replace it with a new one.
Install the air filter. Start the engine.

Unplug the spark plug wire from the spark plug if the engine did not start.
Hold the insulated part of the spark plug wire with one hand and place the bare part about 1/4 inch away from the top of the spark plug.

Try to start the engine and watch for a spark between the wire and the plug. Replace the spark plug wire with a new one if it shocked you through the insulation.
Remove the spark plug using the spark plug wrench and replace it with a new one if there was a spark.
Try to start the engine. Let the engine run until it performs smoothly.

Do not do anything else if there was no spark, as the trouble is inside the internal workings of the engine and requires professional repair and tools.
