Question about Polaris 2004 Sportsman 400
I HAVE A 2004 SPORTSMAN 400 4X4. AS SOON AS WE TURN IT ON WITHIN 15 SECONDS OR SO THE "ENGINE HOT" LIGHT STARTS FLASHING ON THE SCREEN. WE HAVE CHANGED THE THERMO SENSOR THINKING MAYBE THAT WAS BAD BUT ITS NOT. IT IS STILL FLASHING THAT WARNING SIGN WIHIN A FEW SECONDS OF STARTING IT UP. PLEASE HELP
It's possible there is air in the system, or a thermostat issue. I have a yellow funnel off of a safety can, and it fits the radiator perfectly. It also has an overflow hole, which makes it easier to catch the overflow. Stick the funnel into the top of the radiator of a cold machine. Make sure the overflow tank is topped off, as well as the radiator. When the thermostat kicks on, if there is any air in the system, it will get burped out the funnel, and you can add more coolant. At that point, the fan should also click on. If not, could be the thermal sensor in the radiator. You want to end up with the radiator full, and the overflow tank full, but not overfilled, and your electric fan kicking on when it should, and no leaks.

Get codes from the dianbostic computer reader at Pep Boys/ Autozone etc. or the dealer.
This should tell you which sensor is out
