Yamaha Grizzly 03-660. Why doesn't it start?

If you look at the picture - 29, 30 & 31 are the starter relay, main fuse and probably the bolt that holds it to the frame. When that fuse blows or that relay goes out - it's over. Not going to start. If you have a standard test light - attach the clip end to ground (frame of atv) and then put touch the postivie post of the battery to verify that the light is functional. It will light up if the battery is good. Next -follow the red cable to the starter relay in the diagram. Where it attaches - check for power. With the key off. IT should be live without the key in. It's on standby in a way. If you do not have power at the other end of your positive cable - your cable is shot. If you do - then you will have someone turn the key and check to see if power is coming from the other post off the relay (that would go to the starter and make it engage - if the square standard fuse in that relay is not blown - but power is not coming through when you touch the key - it's probably the relay. Your safety switch among other things can prevent the engine from starting as well - along with loose cables and grounds (always do a thorough check of all wire connections and grounds - one loose ground can mean a nightmare sometimes) - if you give that a try and do not identify the culprit - just comment or reach out and I'll take you through the next steps. I touched power and negative post with socket my heater and radio wont come on now

I would start by checking the fuses for the radio and heater. they are most likely blown. you would have shorted it out when you touched the negative and positive posts together. Then i would check the wires to the radio and heater to see what the condition is of the wires.

Yamaha Timberwolf. How do I find model number to order parts?

I apologize - my answer to the previous question didn't really clarify your actual question - Your VIN can be found along the frame rail - left hand side - about a foot or so ahead of your left foot guard -

26028714-jbdqfs5232kzbw0rj532ox50-2-0.png

If it's still there - your model number is here:26028714-jbdqfs5232kzbw0rj532ox50-2-2.png

If you can read your VIN - and here's a tip to know you're getting the whole number and it's not rusted away a digit; your second digit should be a (Y) - if you write down your VIN, second digit is Y so you know the placement is right - the 10th digit is the year. And here are the breakdowns for that 10th Digit:

(For all Yamahas - not just the Timberwolf):
88 - J, 89 - K, 90 - L, 91 - M, 92 - N, 93 - P, 94 - R, 95 - S, 96 - T, 97 - V, 98 - W, 99 - X, 2000 - Y, 01 - 1, 02 - 2, 03 - 3

From 1992 - 1998 the Yamaha 250 4-stroke, shaft drive, trail bike was the Timberwolf.

From 1999 - 2004 the Yamaha 250 4-stroke, shaft drive, trail bike was the Bear Tracker.

*****SAME ENGINE, SAME TRANSMISSION, SAME REAR END, TIRE SIZE, PULL START - THINGS THEY DEFINITELY CHANGED IN 1999 WHEN THEY STARTED CALLING THEM THE BEAR TRACKER: - PLASTICS BECAME A LITTLE LONGER I BELIEVE; AND THE SEAT WITHOUT A DOUBT BECAME LONGER. THE CARB WENT TO A CONSTANT VACUUM - INSTEAD OF THE SLIDE CARB WHERE THE THROTTLE CABLE WENT THROUGH THE CAP LIKE THE TIMBERWOLF. HARD TO REMEMBER - BUT I THINK THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER BECAME UNADJUSTABLE - AND NOT MUCH ELSE CHANGED. IN 99 THEY EVEN KEPT THE BRAKING SYSTEM THE SAME. SOMETIME AROUND 2000, 01 OR SO THE BRAKE SYSTEM CHANGED FOR THE FRONT WHEN YAMAHA WENT TO DISC BRAKES. HOPE THIS HELPS. ANYTHING ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR TIMBERWOLF JUST LET ME KNOW - I'VE OWNED, REBUILT, BOUGHT, SOLD, TRADED A TON - I'VE CURRENTLY GOT A 99 BEAR TRACKER THAT IS THE MOST DEPENDABLE 250 4 STROKE I'VE EVER OWNED AND A 1996 YAMAHA WOLVERINE 350 4X4 - I'VE REBUILT THEM FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP. THOSE BIKES ARE GOLDEN IF YOU TAKE CARE OF THEM AND DO A LITTLE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. ALL THE BEST - JUSTIN MCCARTNEY

THE 99 I MENTIONED THAT I STILL HAVE:
26028714-jbdqfs5232kzbw0rj532ox50-2-5.jpg

A 98 I BOUGHT WITH THE ENGINE IN A MILK CRATE THAT I BOUGHT, REBUILT & SOLD:
26028714-jbdqfs5232kzbw0rj532ox50-2-9.png

A 2004 I BOUGHT, REBUILT AND SOLD:
26028714-jbdqfs5232kzbw0rj532ox50-2-14.jpg
All the best - let me know if you're ever in a jam with yours; not too much I haven't seen, fixed or had to deal with.

I have a Kawasaki 550 mule that won't hold a charge

Have you disconnected the battery and tried charging it to see if it would hold a charge disconnected? If not, the battery is probably bad. If it will hold a charge, then connect the battery ground cable, then touch the positive cable to the positive battery post and watch for a spark (make sure the key is turned off). If there's a spark, then something is pulling your batter down when the bike isn't running. Now if you have an electronic speedometer, dash gauges, etc., those will draw in order to maintain memory. Disconnect the wires to them then try again.
There's only so much I can tell you this way. I work on electrical systems often, and it can be a real process.

I have 2001 eton rascal with no spark

always check the ignition switch and the kill switch. we have had kill switch wires melted to the muffler and will not start, unhooked it and replaced the wire and runs like new. sometime the switch can be faulty.

an easy way to check is to hook a test light to the positive side of the battery and if you touch the kill switch wire when it is in the kill mode it should light up. when in the run mode it should not light up. if it lights up then replace it, fix the short, etc...

Battery not charging

Check the alternator's cable connection to ascertain its tight, the alternator's belt, and the battery's cable connections from red positive to relay, and the from relay to starter motor. Check negative black ground from battery to chassis (or engine block).
