It idle's good when thruttle is puhed in. putters an back fires

Back firing is usually a lean fuel mixture caused by partially blocked jets or badly adjusted idle screw

blocked main jet or low fuel pressure if injectored

2 stroke or 4? if 2 stroke definitely jetted wrong choking makes it rich tells me your main jet is too lean (smaller hole) you need to pull carb check jets for plugage clean jets write down numbers check dealer for correct jet size for your elevation if 4 stroke back fire thru carb indicates timing is off or bad intake valves or cam lobe worn

Sounds like engine timing is way out mate take off right side engine cover and have a look at timing marks hope this helps

Sounds like a return spring on the carb might not be connected.

check for a vacuum leak first... then suspect a idle control solenoid issue

This is a timing issue. The crank and cam are out of time. It might be excessive wear,

Cleaning a carb is not an easy undertaking,, there are several tiny passages, tiny jets, and the needle/seat assy, If you are not trained to know these.. you may not get the carb as clean as it needs to be... Install a new spark plug... a new air filter.. and get a qualified pro to clean and set the carb.

If it's been sitting around for a while it could be the idle jet has a little craip in it (it don't take much) but if it's spitting fuel out then I would make sure the float levels aren't sticking.
