What is the valve clearance settings? I have read several different settings but not sure which one is right. Most 200cc say .004 Int/.006 Exh. is this correct?

MOVE EACH CYLINDER TO TOP DEAD CENTER OF COMPRESSION STROKE ( sorry caps on .) check that timing mark in timing cover hole is in line .remove adj cover per cylinder in alignment and adj valves according to mfg specs. to adj : under adj cover , loosen lock nut on top then loosen adj nut on btm @ top of valves . insert feeler gauge under rocker and adj ,this is tricky to say the least. usually takes several tries to get it right, keep trying the valves must be set right or major expenses can be expected to occur. intake and exhaust settings are different normally at least .005 .be sure to tighten locknut on top before checking if clearance is correct. holding the btm nut while turning the locking nut is the tricky part 4 me anyway. 2 valves per cyl. on most atv eng. adj all valves .start eng and listen to eng w/o reving up. any ticking noise and you get to start over. should be smooth idling and quiet. no popping or backfiring. smooth starting and off w/o run on. should not be performed unless you are familiar with the procedure. contact me or service center near you if not sure on procedure.correct adj. is slightly snug fit . valves making no noise when done .
Your ATV does not have lifters. Valve clearance estimate (FROM EXPERIENCE) is close to .004" intake and .0055"-.006" exhaust. This should be a little loose, much more preferable than tight.
1st. change oil and filter.. use 10-40.. if that doesn't quiet them... .0025"-.003" on intake .004" - .005" exhaust should do it... if they are too tight,,it won't idle down fast or well.... or excessively tooo tight -won't start..too loose they rattle or if there is a lot of wear.. the rocker arms may need replacing
Did you/your mechanic check the valve to piston clearance at max valve lift/PISTON HEIGHT??..you need at least .035" (.89mm) on the intake and .060" (1.5mm) on the exhaust.- MINIMUM - . THIS IS CRITICAL!!!

.....11:1 is a pretty tall compression ratio. Are you racing this atv?.. one thing you will find out is that you NEED TO RUN HI-OCTANE fuel..NOT airplane fuel either (its got antifreeze and other additives you so not want to deal with)..11:1 might require a 110 OCTANE race gas to get it to run right... make SURE the timing is RIGHT!!..with this much compression the right fuel, timing, valve clearance, cam timing, etc, MUST be perfect!!!
