Hi Thomas only thing I can think of is that its not getting enough air is it the right filter as it may be not be allowing enough air through. As you probably know if you don't get the right amount of fuel & air it won't run right. Hope it helps cheers Paul

This should be exactly what you need. Took a while to find it.

The problem would appear to either be with the mixture or with the head. Too rich a mixture (too much fuel) will cause black plugs - when you take them out do the engine and plugs smell of petrol? You need to adjust the carburettor. Mark where the throttle screw is to start with and then slowly screw it (in - I think) to reduce the petrol flow.
The other alternative is that their is a problem in the head. Does the engine blow a lot of blue/black smoke out when it is hot. If yes it means a full engine strip down!

SOURCE: Have put new fuel pump on ,cleaned carb, new plug, gets gas plug fires but won't start, checked compression at98# don't know what else to do .

The battery voltage on a Suzuki I had would drop low enough during cranking with the electric starter motor not allowing the spark to be strong enough to run, the voltage regulator also didn't function correctly once and as the battery voltage dropped during operation engine would start to bog down and cut out due to low voltage for the ignition system.

yes but I would also suspect the carbs we not cleaned fully. main jets and emulsion tubes as well as the idle air circuit... these all are important for proper operation. you will need to pull the idle mixture screws out as well.... if they are plugged from the factory you need to drill into them and use an easy out to remove them

I need initial screw settings for a YFM80 Moto 4 carburetor. I just rebuilt it but can't find initial screw settings.

Hey William,
By rebuilt, do you mean the carburetor?? ..or the engine??.. if you rebuilt the carb and you did not remove these screws ( and count the revolutions out from lightly seated), then you did not do the rebuild the carb correctly.. sorry.. What, exactly did you do to the carburetor?? Please reply on here to me..with details!!
thanks..

I cannot understand why someone that claims to have "rebuilt" a carburetor actually missed the BASCIS of carb rebuilding 090.. the air screw (the one on the angle toward the back of the carb has/is connected to the pilot jet system and the idle system, the passages that use this system must be perfectly clean for the engine to run properly.... the air screw has a spring. a spring seat and a o-ring for sealing on it.. the screw setting starts at 1 & 1/2 turns out from lightly seated.. then set the screw in the very side of the carburetor (its the one that controls the idle speed).. once you get the machine warmed up and cleaned out.. let it idle, turn the air screw in and out SLOWLY about a 1/4 turn at a time..EACH TIME ..waiting until the idle settles and then until you reach the point the machine idles as high as possible, then turn in it 1/8 of a turn.. then set the idle speed with the "side screw" to a speed you like... good luck...thanks!!

Why won't my2012 suzuki king quad run but it idles

Carb needs cleaned. Once it gets cleaned or rebuilt always use non- Ethanol fuel. I have a 10 year old ATV and it has always had non-ethanol fuel and never has a problem. Use the same gas on your lawn mower,Weed Wacker, Rototiller and anything with a small motor. It will not gum up.

I have a 1995 Suzuki King Quad (LT-F4WDX). Wont accelerate when warmed up.

did you adjust the valves? check and make sure the fuel pump is putting out enough fuel, way past time to replace it. check your voltage too, the regulators in those are famous for dieing.

My tomahawk 110 atv will not start. I have rebuilt carb , replaced spark plug and it cranked and ran fine until I opened it full throttle and then it started sputtering and diedand now Iit will not re

You need three things to make any gas engine run, in this order double check make sure you have proper timing set, spark and fuel. Could be bad gas or a bad ground from motor to frame.

I have a small 4wheeler that is hard to start and will not idle it will run at speed but if you stop it doesn't idle it dies

Your pilot jet in the carb is plugged up or to small you will have to pull the carb out and clean it if you have a wire brush you can use 1 of the needles off it that will fit in the tiny hole in the pilot jet push it through and then spay carb cleaner through it and the main jet put back together and it should run fine
