SOURCE: 4 wheel drive will not engage.

use a hohm meter to check the hub coils . the hub coils should have zero resistance. if the armeture plates shows wear marks on them clean and let dry then paint the back side of them with black tremmclad paint .also make sure that the bearings in the helix are not binding. if they are u can take them apaart and lightly file the slots some so the bearings move freely.
that sloved my problem

You need to remove the shaft out and these shaft has a spring compression inside the axle they are hard to get out trick is to use chrisel gun if not available punch hammer and alot of patient reinstall them back you can replace the spring with a tigth fitting bolt with lock washer or lock tigth if you need to remove them in the future it will be a piece of cake

SOURCE: I own a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 800 EFI. If I need

There is a retaining clip on the outter part of the strut, you take that out then push the bearing from the inside of the strut pushing the bearing in the direction of where you took the retaining clip out. The part # for the Bearing/axle tube/ hubstrut is 3060233-001 and you can find it along with a helpful diagram at Hope this helps and hopefully I answered your question.

Here you go - this covers the 50/90 2001 & 2002 - Good Luck. I know people roll their eyes when they hear it - but I've seen it more than once...check every connection. Grounds. Everything. One loose ground will mess up a lot of time. All The Best, Justin McCartney

2001 Sportsman 500. where can I get a free wiring diagram?

In 2000 they had two - the 'early' and the 'late' 2000 diagram - pretty sure the late diagram would be close to exact to the 2001/definitely didn't reinvent the wheel between 2000 and 2001 - good luck

2001 Sportsman 500. Where can I get a wiring diagram?

I'm attaching a picture that has 2 wiring diagrams side by side. The left side is the 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500 (Early) wiring diagram and the right side is the 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500 (Late). The Late wiring diagram for 2000 is more than likely either the same or extremely close to the 2001. And they may have just carried it over (the late wiring diagram). I've got a lot of hours on ATV's and Polaris especially - they stuck with what worked and didn't reinvent the wheel from one year to the next (usually). This may not be exact - but it should be extremely close. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

2001 Scrambler 400. What should compression reading be?

With the decompressor active, nominal is 85 - 90 psi. At 62 psi, you have a top end problem. Try dumping a bit of oil in the cylinder and re-test. If the pressure rises, you have a ring seal problem. That sounds like an top end rebuild.

Awd wont work

Some of the Polaris have magnetic locking hubs there is a little black box up in front if I remember right it has three wires coming out of it I think two yellow and one red this unit controls the front hubs
I bypassed this control one time by running a low voltage 12 volt supply to the front hubs used a toggle switch to activate the 4wd when needed it was a old farm bike and the guy did not want to spend the money to replace the control box
