You probly need a new heat sensor, its located on the bottom right of your rad, i had the same problem with my 700 the fan only worked when it was already over heating, i cut the wires flush at the sensor drilled a hole above the key switch and mounted a toggle switch, no more over heating,

Do you remove the rad cover when washing the rad out,
if not your not getting your rad clean enough.

Try the rubber carb boot between the carb and the engine. Look for cracks. Mine had a crack up under it which caused it to run lean

Gary, Faulty fuel pump sending unit. Most of the forums I checked say this a big problem with Polaris, most say the pump and sending unit have to be bought as a assembly.

I have a 2009 Polaris Sportsman 500EFI 4 wheeler. Recently, the number 1200 started flashing under the speedo. What does this indicate?

that sounds like your clock. engine codes don't go that high.and if it was your clock you must of lost 12 volt power at some point.

My 2014 Polaris Sportsman 850 XP started just fine in the cold this morning but when I went to start it again I turned the key and everything turns on but it doesn't start or fire it just cranks ove

check transmission shift levers.
polaris has over ride safety switches..
owners manual may help....
or fuel ice blockage at or near the tank pickup,or flow/noflow valve.
could be ice in float bowl of carb. (if not efi.)
...maybe use hair dryer to heat area near carb/efi unit.

2004 polaris sportsman 700, shuts off while riding.

I have a 2004 700 carb that shut off while riding and then would start up 3-5 minutes later after many nights working on it Ifinally figured it out no help from any dealer. There are 2 circuit breakers under the front rack mine were very rusted, Replaced both never had the problem again. My situation was always only when the lights were on.
Hope this helps
