No spark at spark plug could the coil be bad and how do you test it ?

put an insulation screw driver in the wire end that connects to the cap, obviously disconnecting it from the cap. Crank over and move metal part of screw driver next to some metal and you should see a spark coming from the wire to ground if coil is good.

I don't have spark and have checked all the resistance check given in the owners manual for the ignition system. Where do I go from here?

If you have determined that the ignition coil is good then you have to checkout the device responsible for delivering and interrupting power to the coil so it can create the necessary high voltage.

Fault code p2300 comes on intermittently and cuts out 1 cylinder. Code says rear coil voltage low

code p 2300 refers to ignition coil A , primary circuit ---circuit low===causes --wiring short to ground ---ignition coil
it could be the coil and replacing it may prove either way
I would first check the wiring to the coil and ensure that there is no short in the harness or harness plug connections

It only wants to run when holding the starter button stops running when i let go

Hi Stacie:
Some engines have a secondary ignition wire to the coil from the solenoid circuit so that higher voltage is available for the start.
It may be that the ignition switch (key) is not functioning properly.
If you have access to a voltmeter you should be able to trace the power through from the battery to the coil.
Hope this helps.
