Unhook positive cable then the negitive cable, pull out, then put new one in. hook the negitive cable up first then the positive cable.

2007 Suzuki 250 quad battery is dead doesn't have kick start. Had it on trickle charger for four days still dead. Can I use a jump starter on it if not what are the recommended battery replacement

Hey Michele,, if the original battery lasted this long.. you are lucky,, just replace it. >>> Always use the exact replacement battery<<<<... your quad is designed to take the exact size and amperage rating,, trying to change this is inviting too much trouble,, When you get a new battery,, it will be charged unless you purchase one online that comes with the acid pack,, EITHER WAY - put the battery on the trickle charger for 48 - 72 hours BEFORE you use it.. This will extend the life of the battery a bunch and make it a stronger battery,, ..(this is from too many years of experience.)

I have a 2012 Polaris sportsman 400 h.o. I have replaced the battery and it will not keep a charge I have replaced a few.

Check the Alternator for proper voltage output, I am sure it is the problem, also you can greatly extend the life of the battery by keeping a "Battery Tender" type charger hooked up when it is in storage.

Testing nuetral lamp

Hi David

Use a Multimeter & check for continuity in filament.

Your vehicle has a 12v Battery? Right?

Connect bulb across 12v battery using jumper wires to either side of bulb. (Out of Circuit)
Otherwise the Neutral switch is out of position or damaged.

Bulb in circuit will probably have 12v on one side and the Neutral Switch provides the ground to make it light.

If it is a bulb that is blown... I would replace it with an LED.

You can even make your own LED replacement with a simple standard LED from the local electronics parts store, any colour. Just be sure to add a 560 to 1K ohm resistor in series to limit the current from the 12volt circuit.
Then it will never blow again.

Cheers

The starter engages and starts the motor fine when the motor is cold. however if you ride and try to restart the starter just spins and you can only start using the kick stater.

2004 arctic cat 500 4x4 starter turns doesnt engage starts with pull cord

The starter has to throw it's gear out using centrifugal force. The speed of the starter has to be enough to overcome the spring inside. It is either a little seized and needs to be rebuilt and greased up, or the battery isn't powered up enough to get the right speed to engage properly. In that case clean the battery posts and clamps well, then charge or replace the battery. To know if the battery is bad wait till it is charged... if it still doesn't engage try again with booster cables from your car etc. and see if it suddenly works fine.
