Bad rings, bent valve, bad valve seat. make sure your oil pump is good once you figure out too.

93 polaris trailboss 350l 4x4 new piston and rings ....no suction at carb


This is not enough info to start. ..Hold the palm of your hand over the back of the carb and make sure its sealed against it... You need a helper to do this properly. The engine should pull on your hand inwards... if not....??
Did a shop or factory trained mechanic do the work? Are the reed valves able to open and stay closed? What does the compression gauge read? If you don't have one, beg borrow, buy, and/or take it to a shop and pay them to check it. Check it with the throttle wide open... with new piston and rings it should pump over 120+psi. ..easily.
Have the compression checked and then repost with the results.

05 700 King quad with timing marks all lined up should all 4 valves open at almost the same time intake and exhaust open on exhaust stroke????


the exhaust and inlet valves will be moving if you rock the crank back and forward at TDC
this is called valve overlap and indicates that you are timing the valves on the exhaust stoke tdc and not the compression stroke tdc
turn the crank over till you get tdc again and see if the inlet and exhaust valves have clearance and the timing marks line up
timing is done only on no 1 piston TDC position compression stroke

My kymco leaks gas from the overflow on the bottom of the carb constantly I have cleaned the carb many times and tried to adjust it at the needle valve but still leaks from the overflow

Possibles:
- Needle valve has been compromised, possibly held open with grit.
Carefully dismantle and blow out all orifices with compressed air.
- Float level set too high. Review the way the float shutoff mechanism works. Make sure the float moves up and down easily and that it still floats as intended. Double check the lever that moves the needle valve. Make sure it is correctly connected to the needle.

1988 Polaris 2x4 trailblazer 250cc my question is if it runs for a couple minutes with straight gas did I mess the motor up it's getting fire n gas n it's got compression just will not start


If you ran it with straight Gan you could have trashed the rings lowering the compression enough that it will not start. Do a compression check and see what it has. Make sure you have a 32:1 or 40:1 mix if you are not using the injection system or if it is not working. Quality oil too. Don't do the compression check without normal premix in there. You need at least 110 lbs to run on the low side although I have seen some run at 105.

1986 TRX 250 R has no compression, probably not rings or gaskets cuz there'd be some compression still !! Any ideas ??


A cylinder efficiency test would be the quick answer. Set the engine to top dead centre on the compression stroke if it is a 4-stroke or any top dead centre if it is two stroke. Lock the crankshaft or engage high gear and apply the brakes to prevent the engine rotating during the test (locking the crank is better). Jam the throttle open and remove the air filter.
Remove the spark plug and fit a commercially available adapter or a modified spark plug which allows compressed air to be fed into the cylinder without leaking.

Once the cylinder is fed with compressed air, leaks through the induction indicates a faulty inlet valve or seat, air escaping through the exhaust indicates similar problems with the exhaust valve or seat and more than the usual dribble of air escaping through the piston ring gaps indicates problems with the piston, rings or cylinder bore.

This type of test is quick and reliable and far superior to wet-and-dry compression testing but the diagnosis is slightly different for a 2-stroke as there are no valves but the process is quite intuitive and a valuable aid to fault finding but stick to low pressure on these engines..

Why does my 250cc suzuki quad have no compression with a new top end?


If its a 2 stoke,"takes gas oil mix", piston in backwards,, ,,,,if its a 4 stroke "takes gas only"...rocker arms need adjusted, or cam not set in proper place during resembly "out of time". Or a. Bent valve/valves,,,in the head, valve will have to be replaced

Why does my 1989 suzuki 250cc quadrunner have no compression?


i would adj valves 1st and go from there. rings maybe stuck if it has sat a while w/o being started. run a compression test on it should have something at least. no compression doesnt sound right to me. if so rings stuck can be freed if so ,sometimes fixes it ,sometimes breaks it
