STOP holding the starter button down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. Its NOT really running..
My first guess is the starter needs some TLC..a professional rebuild..they are not hard to do.
Diagnosing electrical issues over the internet is hard... I will think on this some more and repost if I come up with anything..sorry..

You have an inner cable and outer cable... they BOTH have to be specific lengths,(and they are not the same).. Did yours break?... get pinched?.. Its easier to purchase the original factory cable than try to make one! MANY MANY years ago you could buy all types of cable ends, inner wire, outer sheathing and make your its not $$$ feasible to make your own,, and CHANCE having it break or an end fall off (the wrong end) and end up inside your engine!!..ooppsss.. You will have to get someone who works in a parts dept. to measure a NEW one..inner and outer.

Hello anonymous . whats your question??

Honda 2004... | Answered on Sep 14, 2018

A professional shop will charge from $85 to $110 per hour..depending on location...ask how they determine the charges... ALL manufacturers have a flat rate manual that SHOULD determine how many hours to will take...( When I was working in a shop.. I was usually about 1/2 hour behind on full overhauls..and could usually beat the flat rate on electrical issues)..
Should be able to get out for about 4 - 5 hours..depends on if they have to remove the engine first...engine removal/reinstall is about another hour.

Hey Darren,, what do you mean by "start fully"...sounds like its time for a professional carb cleaning..(start there!)

The transmission has to be reinstalled in neutral. The shift drum should give away how to do this!
If you can't figure out how to accomplish this.. its time for a professional intervention!! (professional mechanic!)

You should have a crankcase vent that keeps this from happening..(UNLESS it has a DRY SUMP oiling system).. the hose should be open and clear to prevent this.

The front break usually over rides the starter sensors. Squeeze it and try starting . You can try rocking the machine forward and backward while trying to get it into neutral.
